  • I always found interesting that people like Tana “snitched” on the lifestyle influencers by saying they drank, went to parties, and saying they weren’t as “good” as people thought. I always thought it was obvious that they did that in their off time. Keeping your personal life away from your job doesn’t make you a bad person. It just makes you a professional.

YOU SHOULD DO AN EVOLUTION OF ZOELLA! that could be interesting! or maybe an evolution of British YouTubers, for example, alfie deyes, zoella, Marcus butler, etc.
  • For a second my illiterate brain thought the title was "The Evolution of Smoky Glow" and I was like damn Hannah's getting meta in here on this day.

I find it fascinating that adult content revolves so heavily around drinking and having sex. I understand that those are the big things that distinguish being an adult from a child, but there are a lot of other interesting things that being an adult consists of and it's weird how stuck on sex and alcohol our society is. No I'm not calling sex or alcohol evil but I do believe they get focused on when other things may actually be more interesting in the long run.

I feel like all these girls owe so much to ingrid nielsen. She was transitioning her channel from makeup to lifestyle in like, 2010.
  • @Thegirlsrooom
All these girls went through “Disney channel star” syndrome. They grew up and now feel like they need to go overboard to rebrand their image
  • @bb5458
Sad Bethany Mota didn’t get mentioned. She pioneered the genre of lifestyle YouTube
  • @Kat-fw7vv
Could you do Kat Von D? I'm curious about her rise and fall.
  • @lovetherain227
My biggest issue with some lifestyle influencers is that they sometimes give unhealthy, incorrect advice around weight loss and exercise to their young audience that just normalizes and feeds into people having unhealthy relationships with food.

The whole, “you’ve changed,” critique is so strange. We all change, it’s a law of nature that everything changes (including us). Lots of time the change we feel we see in others is really change that we’ve gone individually and find we no longer relate with someone we used to relate to. Why do we (we meaning society at large) get so bent out of shape by it? Change = growth, so good change or what one might think is bad change still = growth so long as people can be as self-aware as possible. Human behavior like this is so fascinating to me.
  • @momager
I will be interested to see how Jojo Siwa’s content will shift. She’s got to grow up sometime.
  • @rosacento8251
I wish these lifestyle YouTubers could figure how to produce content thats "adult" but not constantly talking about sex and drinking. It's like they're trying to be edgy but really its overdone and getting boring.

Tried to watch Alisha for a hot sec but her rampant consumerism was never something I could support. She does massive hauls like once a week and then declutters her closet and i swear 80% of the stuff she’s getting rid of still has tags on it. To me that’s so gross and not something that should be celebrated

Talking about Alex Wassabi as "not as family friendly" is WILD because his whole personality is like a children's show host. I have not seen, and especially at that time, a more friendly mid 20s man on YouTube 🤣🤣🤣 personally I think he was way more family friendly than her
  • @rachellee9236
I don’t know why when people say “child friendly” or “no adult themes” I don’t think of drinking or smoking, etc.. I think of like jobs, health insurance, taxes, etc 😂😂😂
  • @gabydelgado16
To be honest, the only youtuber that comes to mind when I hear ‘lifestyle youtuber’ is Zoella. I think it would be really interesting to get one of these videos on her!
  • @gabydelgado16
I think lifestyle YouTube used to be about being relatable and sort of ‘cheating the system’ by doing DIYs and buying from the thrift store, etc, but now it’s turning into an aspirational thing, people watch these youtubers because they want to have all that money and designer clothes, not because they share the same struggles like it used to be.
  • @7songstress
The whole family-friendly-squeaky-clean image reminds me of early 2000s pop stars, especially boy bands and female pop stars, where they had no room to really mature and their images were carefully controlled for their much younger fan bases. As we now know, that caused a lot of personal issues for many of them.

i can’t believe 2014 and 2015 were like... a long time ago .... that’s when i graduated highschool and it doesn’t even feel like that long ago
