I always prefer all wheel drive, not just winter conditions but also for our tropical conditions where we get tropical rains which can make road surfaces very slippery. This even more so after a long dry spell on roads with lots of diesel trucks. The diesel on the road surfaces when dampened with rain makes it slippery as he*l. AWD can be a life saver in that type of conditions.

The bottom line is the EV transition is only going to occur when the sticker price of an EV is lower than an equivalent ICE. Lower. This is because people are creatures of habit and the 100 year habit has been to buy an iCE. Second, there are 6,000 petrol stations in Austraia each of which allows you to fill up in 5 minutes. That's not possible with an EV, so price has to factor that in. Why would you buy something that's 1. more expensive and 2. less convenient. If we want the transition to accelerate, those two things need to be addressed as soon as possible.

600km is the sweet spot. We need that as Standard in Australia.
