I’m in my 60’s and have been doing this lifestyle for over 20years. Didn’t know it had a name. Here’s what I’ve learnt: It’s not a holiday, it’s a job with different postal addresses. TRAVELERS DILEMMA: People who know who you are, don’t know where you are People who know where you are, don’t know who you are,

I'm so glad you brought up loneliness + mental health as factors and explained how you can feel lonely even if you are not traveling. There are tons of reasons why people fail at things but we all need to evaluate how to adjust ourselves and the way we handle challenges in order to reach our goals!

I actually find I feel less lonely when I am traveling even though I'm literally alone. When I'm surrounded by people I feel so lonely because I feel disconnected to the people around me.
  • 30-years-a-nomad. Love seeing your continuing success, Kristin. You and I almost met in Japan in 2017. Maybe on the road somewhere else we will meet. Portugal? (I'm in Ecuador this month.) My first digital nomad experience started exactly 30 years ago in April, 1993.

Kristin, you are terrific. You often say things that are wise beyond your years. You remind me of a retired school teacher neighbor I knew as a child. Very wise and kind. Deeply respectful of an individual's sovereignty. She would have loved you.
  • This is really opened my eyes to some of the common pitfalls and misconceptions about this way of living. The points about lack of discipline and insufficient financial planning were especially thought-provoking. Thanks for shedding light on these issues and helping aspiring digital nomads avoid these crucial mistakes! 👏🌍💻

Having watched a few of your videos now, you are most fundamentally a superior life coach. Thriving on your own has to be one of life's most important challenges.

Great advice. Thank you Kristin. Your videos are always so helpful

Good point about running away from problems. If the problem is yourself it will follow you no matter how far you travel.

A friend in Phnom Penh asked why I was always walking with my head down? I said I'm too friendly. I would be saying hello to everyone I made eye contact with and I would arrive at my workspace exhausted. It was easier to look like I was deep in thought. :)

Thank you very much Kristin for revealing all these challenges. I'm also interested in this lifestyle. Your video has provided me another perspective.

I expect this channel to increase in subscribers. Excellent delivery and packed with thoughtful content. Very helpful!
  • I'll be honest, although this vid was posted 4 years ago - first off, freelancing for clients has become quite a competitive especially post 2020. Coz every other person is offering freelancing services to clients. I see 17 year old kids offering Copywriting for dirt cheap rates and clients are hiring them. Also with AI in the picture, things have become even more difficult for freelance service providers. And this is definitely impacting people who once dreamt of living a "digital nomad" life.
  • I was worried about the potential loneliness aspect at first, but there are apps now specifically to connect nomads in the same area with each other, which is rad! I also use WWOOF, Workaway, and Couchsurfing all together, so I'm around people. I've found that for me, feeling lonely is rectifiable by choosing to reach out and establish candid, deep, real connections with whoever is around you! I feel less lonely simply by having an exciting conversation about Stephen King's books with a guy on the bus, or striking up a deep conversation about nature vs nurture and our childhoods with someone I've just met; radical vulnerability is the name of the game, to feel connected to humanity and not alone!

Thank you for this honest perspective!

Excellent video and it holds up 2 plus years later. Happy trails!
