I kind of have a similar story. So I remember clearly in first grade when I was reading Gone with the Wind and my teacher said that I shouldn’t be reading something I couldn’t understand. Then, after a couple days when I finished the book, I wrote an 8 paragraph summary and gave it to the teacher. She was stunned and called my parents. Then I took a test to see if I was eligible for the gifted program called PEN. I failed because I had a low attention span. Then, a few years later, it turns out I am 3 grades ahead in every subject and have a 157 IQ. I’m going into middle school now and I’ve heard that the gifted programs are really good so I’m excited.
