I won't say which I think is better since I haven't played Spider-Man 2 yet, but it's impressive that Arkham Knight still looks good 8 years later.

Arkham knight deserves a next gen patch for the consoles

It's genuinely insane how good Arkham Knight still looks. Easily one of the best looking games ever made. Rocksteady outdid themselves.
  • @Davidscomix
The fact Arkham knight can still be compared after being made on unreal engine 3

I'm a fan of both marvel and dc but man i gotta say Arkham looks too good for its time. No hate on spiderman 2 both games are very well executed.

Comparing these two is night and day; literally. The atmosphere in Arkham knight is super dope

Rock steady did such a perfect job in making a 2015 game that still competes with 2023 titles, truly a head of it's time in terms of (mostly) everything.

Arkham knight has lots of interiors with interactable named NPCs and quests inside such as GCPD, the clock tower, and the two large airships. All are enterable at any point in the story without loading screens. You also get the batmobile which adds a new wrinkle to the usual arkham formula by adding vehicular combat and navigation. This resulted in an open world that is multi layered with complex roads and underground levels; all accessible without loading screens. The main mission in spiderman is still using separate states where you are locked in a specific location and locked out of doing side activities. Even a simple phone call in Spiderman locks you out of exploring the map as arbitrary "leave the mission" messages prevent you from doing stuff. Arkham knight's main missions are always active, meaning you can still pursue other activities despite having another main objective active. For example, I can have poison ivy inside the batmobile as part of an ongoing story, but I can still use the batmobile in doing other side activities or choose to leave her and go to the other side of the map and complete other side activities; all seamless without getting out of any mission states. The world design is much more complex in batman. You actually get a city with enterable buildings that have multiple floors with functioning elevators, The open world in spiderman is still using the ubisoft template with inorganic checklists of mindless repetitive collectibles. arkham knight does side quests organically where villains and activities are already populated in every facet of the game environment, meaning sidequests do not have obvious flashing icons that gets triggered by loading screens, but are diagetically embedded in the environment such as ominous music playing, a smoke coming from a building, and a creative jump scare during open gameplay. The riddler collectibles also transform Gotham into a huge puzzle playground where level design and the game mechanics are utilized together to create unique challenges that are mechanically driven, and not by quicktime events. Mission design in arkham knight is also devoid of boring walking-only sections but filled with bespoke mechanics that translate batman's other facets into actual game mechanics, not through quicktime events. Combat is much more visceral in Batman with better animation and sound feedback and a more creative utilization of gadgets. More than one enemy can attack Batman at the same time and counter attacks are uniquely animated depending on the number of attackers. Spiderman only has a dodge/parry and never counters. In addition, arkham knight has an exceptional dual character combat system where players can switch seamlessly between two characters in performing one single combo string. The enemy AI is far more complex in Batman. There are multiple levels to their level of alertness. They can be calm, cautious, nervous, and terrified. All these emotions result in different gameplay scenarios as enemies try to adapt to Batmans traps and techniques. This is a far cry from spiderman where AI is simply binary. Batman Arkham simply immerses you in what it's like to be batman in minute detail. Enemies also have their own idle dialogue which adds personality and charm to the otherwise mundane combat encounters.

Both are great games but Arkham knight takes the cake for me they absolutely nailed the feel of Arkham city and Batman in a dark setting and the performance of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill is incredible
  • @tacomctacov2622
Both games are great but the fact that batman arkham knight can still compete in game comparisons even if it has been 8 years, is awsome.

Arkham Knight is some otherworldly masterpiece. It remains fantastic up to this day. Props to the Rocksteady team, because they nailed all three games perfectly. I hope any of the devs see this comment.

It’s crazy how much of a mood difference the two have. Batman seems to take it very seriously while Spider-Man is just a fun guy who has fun with his role.
  • @redchariot4006
The amount of detail from Knight is insane. It still looks great to this day and year
  • @NakedSnake1836
One element that was left off on the combat section was the dual teamwork as there are occasions where Peter would cross paths with Miles (or vice versa) and they would take down multiple enemies together, which the same can be said for Batman as he would fight alongside Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman when fighting against the criminals of Gotham City. Not to mention that both heroes would have a dual takedown with their respective allies and have different interactions with them as well.

10:17 if you press the right stick while glide kicking the camera will switch to the victims pov to make an epic shot

Excelent video, its crazy how advance in time was Arkham Knight. The only thing that makes me sad is that Gotham is not a living city like in Spider-Man 2, even though they are NPCs without any expression. Anyway, two games are on my top 10.
