Ayyy! Good to see you back on the Tube, Abby. Like you said, truly saddistic show. My older ccousin used to force us to watch it and I always felt absolutely revolted whenever they had to eat something gross. There was a South African version very briefly in the mid 2000s and in one of the challenges on the very first episode, they tied contestants to a bakkie (I think you guys call them pick-up trucks) and drove through the desert at really high speeds. One woman had her skin very badly scraped off, suffered a concussion and even lost a bunch of her hair and the sick bastards actually broadcast the episode. I believe one of the big network execs was really unapologetic and basically said something along the lines of "the contestants know what they're signing up for and no one would make a huge deal about this if it happened in the American version" 🤢

I 100% could not watch fear factor as a kid, and probably wouldn't now. The animal abuse is crazy, and I really hope that the people who greenlit this show, and kept it going are no longer allowed to work in the business, and should really face some serious jailtime.
