Kai Trump, the teenage granddaughter of former US president Donald Trump, made an unexpected debut at the Republican National Convention on July 17, receiving raucous applause and cheers.

Kai began her speech by introducing herself and sharing the more personal side of her grandfather, one that people don't often see. She described him as a normal grandpa who gives candy and soda when their parents aren't looking and always wants to know how they're doing in school. She shared a touching story about how he proudly printed out her high honor roll to show his friends and called her during school to ask about her golf game. Kai humorously mentioned having to remind him that she was in school and would call him back later. She also recounted playing golf together, where he tries to get inside her head, but she's proud to say she doesn't let him because she's a Trump too.

Kai then turned to the more serious aspects of her grandfather's life. She talked about how, despite going through numerous court cases, he always asks how she's doing and encourages her to push herself to be the most successful person she can be. She acknowledged that he sets the bar high but expressed determination to maybe catch up to him one day. Kai shared her shock and heartbreak upon hearing about the assassination attempt on her grandfather, emphasizing how it was hard to fathom that someone would do such a thing to another person.

She also highlighted her grandfather's resilience, mentioning how he continues to stand strong despite the many challenges he faces. She stated, "A lot of people have put my grandpa through hell and he's still standing." Kai expressed admiration and love for him, calling him an inspiration.

Kai concluded her speech by addressing the misconceptions about her grandfather. She said, "The media makes my grandpa seem like a different person, but I know him for who he is. He's very caring and loving. He truly wants the best for this country, and he will fight every single day to make America great again." She ended with a heartfelt thank you to the audience.
