Electra Heart is the girl you run into in the supermarket wearing a faux fur coat and sunglasses, leisurely picking through the avocado. Her cart is filled with champagne and strawberries and she doesn’t even care that you’ve been staring at her from the bakery aisle. She’s angsty, and you can tell that her phone conversation didn’t end well by the way she dramatically dropped her phone and wiped a solitary tear from her cheek. The same cheek that has a eyeliner-drawn heart on it.

Funnily enough, I listened and jammed to this song for the first time when I was 13. I'm hitting 20 next year and now I see the song so much differently. Such a beautiful piece, with true emotions spilled all over the track.

ok marina has a solid career with very good chart success with many singles 25 or higher on the charts and Electra heart went to number 1 on the charts but the fact that this song did not make the billboard hot 100 is a joke this song should have been number 1.

Remember when we had all spent like all of 2012 Electra Heart'ing and then Marina DROPPED A MUSIC VIDEO FOR LIES ON US??? I was so shook. The imagery of the rain falling on the tea party table in the middle of the forest is forever branded into my brain.

Looking back in retrospect, I feel like this video marked the definitive end of the Electra Heart era which gave way to the Froot era.. a.k.a. my personal favorite. The rain came down and washed her clean of that person she used to think she needed to be. She had one too many heart aches and the veneer of apathy and self centeredness that acted as a shield, came crashing down. It's really beautiful and sort of metaphoric for her own personal evolution perhaps? Marina was and is a genius.
