Did your version not have Baxter's subtitles? Those are the best. Baxter: Leave these people alone. They mean you no harm. Bear: We Bears are a proud race. They must pay for their intrusion. Baxter: On my journey I met one of your kind. His name was Katow-jo. We became friends. Bear: Katow-jo is my cousin. Go in peace. Baxter: I will tell tales of your compassion. Bear: Fare thee well, Baxter. You shall always be friend of the bears.

I love Simone's '90's bands t-shirts so much.

I started running studio camera in a newsroom in the late 70's while I was in college and this movie brings back so many memories. Sometimes it's closer to real life than you might think. We had our male anchor and our sports anchor get in argument one night about something just before the final sign off story, and after they said good night with big smiles, they went to the newsroom and started beating the shit out of each other. Same anchorman got caught in a strip club one night and caused a local scandal, and a different anchor one night didn't say his name in the open because it was blank on the teleprompter. Good times.

"Brick, you killed a man!" 🤣 One of my absolute favourite comedies. Soooo funny.
-
The casual delivery by Brick of "Oh no, too many people died last year!" when asked if he will take part in the celebrity golf turnament is top notch, Carell is a gem.
-
Simone's angry face about Jack Black kicking Baxter off the bridge is hilarious
-
Steve Carell's audition footage for this character is equally hysterical and amazing! Definitely give it a watch if you haven't seen it yet.
-
I was in such a foul mood earlier for a number of reasons, but my god, I feel better now - crying with laughter throughout, thank you both, and stay classy!
-
This was fun but I was worried George might hyperventilate from laughing so hard
-
This along with Step Brothers helped me feel more comfortable with my own childish behavior.
-
a sign of a good comedy like this is it's quotability. Movies like Joe Dirt, Anchorman, Office Space etc, are not blockbusters, but always carry rewatch value. Notice how many memes you recognized because of this movie.
-
This is one of those movies where you wonder how they ever managed to finish it. It had to be chaos the whole time.
-
I think it was either an interview that was included in the special features or I seen somewhere later(maybe around ELF's release) that Will Ferrell is a big fan of The Mary Tyler Moore Show and his performance of Ron Burgundy was inspired by Ted Knight's Ted Baxter character off the show(Ron's dog Baxter was also named after the character). So yes Simone you are right in thinking of MTM show with the whole 70's setting.

This movie is probably the hardest I've ever laughed while watching a comedy alone
-
Supposedly the way this was filmed was that they would film the scenes as originally scripted and then they would film a ton of takes of them just riffing of the cuff. Hence the wonderfully chaotic hysterical mess that is this movie.

This was Steve Carrell first major role. He was mostly known as a Daily Show Corespondent before this. I think the Office started the following year, and that almost was cancelled after the first season, but 40 year old virgin came out that summer and NBC gave the show another season.
-
They actually shot so much footage for this movie that they ended up making a sequel out of the unused footage. It's called "Wake Up Ron Burgundy".
-
Paul Rudd is my favorite actor as of recently. His diversity in his roles astounds me. I think he has done just about every kind of character!
-
I’ll never forget going on Christmas break from school, This was one of the last movies before social media where me and my friends all watched it on our own and when we came back everyone already had practically the entire movie memorized already.

I hate to hear what Christina Applegate has been going through with her medical issues. But I do have to say that when I was a kid and 'Married with Children' was in its first run, I thought she was a stone cold fox -- been crushing on her ever since. She's a hilarious woman, and hot dang, she's a looker.
