My dad was a Col in the Indian army and was stationed in Kashmir. He was so well known by locals and the army men that he would travel without any escort and when stopped by a crowd- he would come out and instantly there used to be a comment -Arrey yeh to hamare commander sahib hain When he was posted out , there was not a single flower left in the Mughal gardens as the locals used flower petals to shower his motorcade!

This is one of the best narrations. In my student days in 1988-90, I used to run the grounds of the Rajrif centre in Delhi and do the obstacle course. The jawans there were one of the best human beings and used to encourage us students. The memories of their warmth still brings a smile.. Jai Hind
