I was a well traveled Mechanical Engineer going around the world repairing commercial gearboxes, mostly newspaper printing, mining, large vehicles etc. My neck broke and my fate was sealed so I was medically retired. Your videos allow me to experience what I have missed most in the world, my job. Thank you.

It may not seem like a lot, but I really appreciate you showing where the part is located on the vehicle. It gives the less mechanically inclined members of your audience (like me!) a better idea of what you’re working on and how it affects the operation as a whole. A wonderful video, and I look forward to more! ☺️

In the late '40s, the 50's, the '60s, and early '70s my Dad was a machinist. He worked for Curtis Wright Aircraft, Lockheed, and Aerojet. All that time I knew he was a machinist but I didn't know what a machinist actually did. Now watching you and Abom79 on youtube I see what his job was all those years. Thanks for the content, great job.

I've had 40 years on excavators and you don't realise how much work goes into making these components. fantastic. your knowledge is incredible.

It looks like your safety officer has some executive meetings that he needs to attend. It is a good thing that he has instilled such an environment there that he can feel like he can slip away for a meeting or two and not worry about anyone getting hurt. Good on him and the thankless work he does.

Ok the dog is a star and he lives it well. You are a master of mechanics your knowledge and your know-how are impressive, I make a special dedication to the video technician. She makes everything fluid, she knows how to play with slow motion and fast forward. Everything is dynamic, interesting and tinged with humor. Thank you to you three, a window of relaxation in this time of shit.

We can all get by with just the machining and problem solving but when you throw in comments from the Mrs and shots of Homeless it really puts everything into perspective. Thanks for the content!

When I see that 75 mm boring bar I think of the Crocodile Dundee scene where he says, "That's not a knife." "This is a knife!" What a big piece of kit! Another great video. Thanks, as always.

Love the understated deadpan humour: "minor problem" "...the other problem is that the eye fell off"
-
0:07 I like how the safety officer comes to work every day!
-
It just amazes me that the bits aren't snapped off instantly when you start machining the outside of the eye from square to round. They must be absolutely insane hard metal.
-
Hi, you mention the company that flame cuts for you, would really like to see an insert video of something that thick being flame cut, cheer from a new sub.
-
Without blowing smoke up your butt.... you're an artist not a tradesman Kurtis. That is almost magical machining, the experience and pride in your workmanship is outstanding. Well done mate, we need more tradesmen like you in this country. Keep up the sterling work and if i'm ever over that side of the country i'd be honoured to buy you a beer 👍🍻
-
My opinion, cutting edge the best representation of Australian engineering on youtube . Awesome mate thanks for the uploads !👍👌😎
-
Those interrupted cuts give me gooseflesh! That is one hell of a lathe you have there Kurtis. Amazing bit of no bullshit machining, thanks for sharing.
-
I am always amazed how you manage to minimize your setup times by measuring only the truly necessary dimensions.
-
"The eye fell off"... Sounds like a Clarke & Dawe episode! Outtakes are great, Cheers
-
The outtakes are always 1 of the best parts of the videos
-
Always good to hear when a customer follows your expertise instead of them thinking you're just trying to spend their money.

You are truly an artist in machining and your wife is amazing in capturing all the right shots. So glad I found your channel. Wish I would have known all of this when I was younger. Guess it’s never to late to learn a new skill.
