We live in southeastern Illinois on a 41 acre homestead. We just finished building our log cabin in 2018. Now we are focused on trying to grow our own food and raise livestock. Follow us on our journey we continue to develop our homestead and farm, while becoming more self sufficient.

Evan, you seem like a totally different person, you are so energetic and enthusiastic about what you are doing. I think it is because you quit your job and the farm is no longer a hobby - it is your life. I am an old man and I would be very very proud of you if you were my son. My wife and I just love you and Rebecca, you are our FAVORITE YT channel. Art & Melissa from Ohio

Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, live stock raising, tractor driver, lawn mower... this farm calls on all your skills, Thanks for sharing. BTW, nice job on the pen and loading chute. You and Rebecca will have a gem showcase of a place.
  • There’s always a sense of satisfaction when you do a job correctly.
  • Great looking corral. Evan, you look so happy and peaceful since you retired from your full time job. I think full time farming agrees with you.😄
  • We learn so much from your channel... We are documenting our homestead startup to contribute to Youtube in the way that you two did!!.. thank you for another great Video!!
  • He's like the MacGyver of farming , solar energy array's and making gates out of scrap lumbar. Is there anything he can't make?
  • Go back a few years and watch some of Evan's old videos. It's amazing how much they've gotten done and how nice it looks. Makes me feel like a 70 year old slacker.

23:52 When you finally realise that you are living your best life. Content with life. Well done Evan
  • Hi, Evan! The little sheep gate is very clever. The whole loading chute is clever. The gravel portion of the chute should be a big help. Loving your videos.

Evan makes it feel like you’re right there with him on the farm! 😊
  • excellent job Evan , always admire your persistence in doing it right
  • I love evening time on a farm. Cooler temperatures, shaded area's, less wind, easier to hear nature. That's your reward.
  • You can swing a Hammer I'll give you that . Good job . Work speaks for it self.

Well done sir. You’re turning into a regular Farmer Tyler (Ranch), one of our other favorites.

A mighty fine job there EVEN ,😊you make carpentry look easy

Run some extra boards vertical- half way between the post. Keep your boards from warping and make it a little more sturdy. Especially on the west side of the corral ( the bunching pen). As for the building if you want to protect the metal just use 2x4s vertical attached to the metal, then run boards horizontal, no need to put more post in. Love the time you take show us what you do!!!

The restoration of and improvements you and Rebecca are making to this once ravaged farm are inspiring! You've taken a trashed piece of property and are turning it into a little paradise. Thank you for letting us enjoy the journey!
