“Oh, you’re a musician? What instrument do you play?” “A wall of knobs.”

  • @MasterofPuberty
Seriously, why isn't this guy a hot shot in the Hollywood film music industry? Why doesn't he have a lifetime achievement award?
  • @katerspam

I like how the thousand LEDs ominously illuminate the operator.

guests randomly hearing orchestral sounds from the basement "what's that?" "me son is playing with his knob he is, quite a weird one, you want to watch?"
  • @divertinguincp
Man, I'd listen to a whole album of these chords. That was superb.
  • @MakersMuse

"Become a patron and you can become a knob" - you made this just so you could say this and I love it.
  • This needs to be used if there is ever another blade runner. As soon as he fired it up my brain was like woah woah woah 😨
  • @BartManNL
And that, gentlemen, is why we love drone synths.

4:20 Bread advert chord: F#maj 4:37 first chord: B half sharp maj (I'm just gonna call it B though) 4:55 (on fader 5): B-ish maj with a flattish 7 like in the overtone series, so not really dominant so much as a barbershop quartet of drones 5:03 (on fader 10) Kinda Bb maj, so when combined with fader 5 gives you a Bb/B sound, which to my ears sounds like a B7alt 5:10 (on fader 11) Kinda Dbmaj-ish, so when you have 10 and 11 up it sounds like a Bb7#9 5:22 (on fader 12) Sounds like a C#min-ish thing, but slightly sharp and wiggly. With 11 and 12 up you're hearing the push-pull of the major and minor third, so it's arguably a Db7#9 with them together? Maybe? 5:31 ( 7,11,12) Still feels like the same chord but more of the root added, maybe? Something cool. 5:47 Farts 5:52 Excited C major that forgot to wipe before flushing 5:55 C#min-ish thing again (fader 12?) 6:03 Feels like a Bbmaj again (fader 10?) 6:11 Whaaaat. Okay now it's like an Ab maj (add9, softly, with a tender kiss) 6:20 B (half flat) min 6:27 #Bread 6:36 Now I really want some bread. ...and so on. 9:23 all chords at once: the composite feeling is like a big F#major. Somehow the bread chord emerges as the root. IT'S ALL BREAD CHORD? ...Always has been. Side note: it makes total sense that this many oscillators would end up sounding kinda like strings. If you haven't dug into the writing of Iannis Xenakis, his music sounds a lot like this. He was playing with large ensembles and getting whole orchestras of string players to do glissando effects all at once, not for a chord but for the new emergent properties of sound that that would create. His scores look like architectural blueprints rather than sheet music... Cool stuff. Also because not enough people are saying it: fucking BRAVO, DUDE. This is incredible.

I really hope someone comes along and uses the kilodrone to make an OST for some sort of dystopian sci-fi epic.
  • @EtienneMaheu
There's something... incredibly... intimidating with all of those red lights just turning up together...
  • Headline "Local electronic music enthusiast rips a hole in reality with mad scientist like mega synthesizer."
  • Listening through all the chords created by these oscillators, here's what I came up with: 4:36 3 C major (flat) 4:50 4 F# major (sharp) 4:58 5 Angry C drone (flat) 5:29 6 B drone 6:14 ? Ab major sus2 6:21 ? B minor omit5 ?:?? ? (missing) 5:05 10 Bb major (sharp) 5:13 11 Db fifths (sharp) 5:23 12 D minor (flat) 9:25 All The flat C drone and B drones merge together to create a distinct B root, and there seems to be a jumble at Db, D and Eb; however, a clear F and A emerge at the top of the chord. Thus, the best quantization I can offer of the combined jumble is Bø7 combined with B minor 7. Not all the channels were clearly played individually with video showing the channel number, but I managed to get most of them.
