My sweet mother used to cut any color bell 🫑 peppers into fairly ling strips, place them all into a good ziplock bag, then ..... fill bag 75% full of water, & place in the freezer. Zero freezer burn, looked wonderful when using them for recipes. ❤
  • I taught myself to can 2 years ago at 60. Although I'm thankful to have learned that skill, with my current health condition, freezing is much easier and better. It is good to know you are able to grow seeds from frozen. Thank you.
  • I tried freezing them last year. I wasn't too happy with the softness of them in salads, but the flavor of them cooked in stews and soups was like fresh from the garden. Great idea.

I am recovering from throat cancer and radiation has left me unable to taste anything. I have cherry tomatoes and peppers ready to harvest. They will now be frozen and used when taste buds come back. They were planted before I was diagnosed. Thank you for your info again.
  • @par4451
I don't trim my tomatoes, i agree with you i think i get more harvest this way.
  • @minsumiko73
Wow, thanks so much for your wonderful time saving tip Robbie! I was going to can tomatoes today from my garden and was seriously dreading it and decided not to, but now i can just freeze my tomatoes!? Easy❤

Missouri is hot and humid during tomato season. Fungus was a problem until I started trimming sun leaves off the bottom and anything that made it crowded. No, I don't take off what people call suckers, they make tomatoes too! And my sweet yellow cherry tomato spent the winter inside like a house plant. I've over-wintered my favorite Anaheim pepper two winters. I love free veggies!

Thank you for answering my question about growing tomato seeds that were frozen! I froze some tomatoes last week just for planting next spring. I also froze some bell peppers and sweet onions. I wash and slice my onions and bell peppers and freeze them in the same bag, and they are ready for fajitas, stir fry, etc... Robbie, do you have a video of you making your salsa? I would love to watch it if you do. 😊❤❤😊
  • @par4451
I need to try sun gold tomatoes, this is the first year i tried black cherry tomatoes, they're delicious.
  • @jlseagull2.060
One year I decided to do an experiment to trim my cheery tomato plants. Lots of labor work during the growing season. Yes, I had bigger cherry tomatoes but the flavor….was kind of different. I missed the flavor of smaller chewy tomatoes. Obviously it was up to personal preference. From that point on, I have stopped trimming my cherry tomatoes plants unless they are out of hand. Then, I keep some of the suckers/branches to grow more if I want to 😊 or I compost them.

Such a great idea - I didn’t think tomatoes could be directly frozen!! It always seems like everything ripens at once, so this is so helpful. Thanks!!

  • I wish I would have done this sooner. I’m going to try growing fall cherry tomatoes here in Texas. Right now it’s way to hot but, I’m going to try fall ones and implement your idea! Thank you! 💜
  • @avabishop753
I've done this with all of my herbs and veggies. Love this method.
  • Thank you Robbie for sharing your video. Homemade salsa 😋 that's the best. Hagd ❣️
  • @Zizzyyzz
Perfect timing, thx. Just scored 5-8 lb bag of Roma tomatoes. 😄
  • @deanyanko3326
you can freeze your peppers that way too for salsas soups and stews. And guess what next spring you will find all kinds of baby cherry tomato plants a sproutin, I transplant them they;re so tasty. thanks Its mind blowing the life force within a seed seemingly dormant for years then can spring to life.
  • @lindakitts4304
You’re awesome. I’m 73 and didn’t realize tomatoes froze !! I’m going to freeze mine for spaghetti sauce this winter. Wow. I hope Roma freezes well. I have a lot of them on the vines. They’re still green though.
