Truly this question is more of a paradox than anything else. Because all the games will have there flaws, but all of them suffice when it comes to fun. I believe that there isn’t a souls game out there thats truly the best because all of them are just the best. And the best part about all of these games is that they are all interconnected. You could basically see these games as a singular game seeing how the story always takes place a while later than the last. In conclusion, I personally think that thinking of these games separate is not the way to go. Instead the whole franchise as a whole is amazing and shouldn’t be looked at by which part is better than the last.

I still need to play ds3, but so far, I really liked it and got hooked on ds1 and ds2 (even though 2 is very criticized, I really liked it)

I prefer weapon skills to be like Elden Ring rather then DS3. In DS3 90% of skills are useless and 9% can be used only as a crowd control tool. Most skills in this game have the same damage as a light attack, but take twice or even thrice as long to cast. I don't know why the hell do even exist in this state at the first place... I understand that in Elden Ring there's another side of a coin where all the most powerful weapon are - surprise-surprise - the ones that allows you just to spam a weapon skill, but even the most regular damaging ash of war on a basic sword deals 30-50% more damage then a regular attack. And if I had to choose: OP or useless, the choice is pretty obvious.
