The Copenhagen zoo was founded in 1859 by ornithologist Niels Kjærbølling in the summer garden of "Prinsess Vilhelmines Have". It is one of the oldest zoos in Europe. The spacious enclosures recreate a natural habitat and excellent conditions for the animals. Visitors enjoy a very realistic experience since the animals can be seen from various angles and on various levels: balconies, tunnels and windows placed around each space allow you to observe them from all sides. In addition, transparent pools for all aquatic fauna are very appreciable: hippos, polar bears, penguins, seals and sea birds can also be admired while swimming underwater.
