Hood strut replacement for the front "frunk" of my 2005 911. These typically start sagging around the 5 year mark. 15 years later they are in obvious need of replacement.

It is about a 5 minute DIY job..very straightforward

Tools need..small flathead screwdriver
Mop or other kind of support to hold the hood up.

Link below here to the OEM Stabilus struts (comes with 1 pair).

Thank you! Very helpful. Should have changed mine a year ago, too😂

Thanks for the how-to. While I didn’t have a mini broom to prop it up, I did have a 10 yr old daughter that I managed to pry away from her tablet for just 5 minutes. Wish the pain went away after 5 minutes, from getting hit on the head by the hood (first & only time it happened.)

Very helpful video, thank you Sean! I just did mine and followed your tutorial but made 2 small modifications - I used an adjustable length squeegee to hold up the hood and draped a cloth on the front fender (up to where the bottom part of the strut was). Knowing my luck I would have scratched something if I didn’t! :)

Hi, are the hood struts in the engine the same size ?
  • @charlesaferg
Were the originals and the new ones the exact same length?
