Typhoon Gaemi has made landfall on Taiwan’s east coast, bringing gusts of about 240kmh (150mph).

Gaemi, which has landed near the city of Hualien, is expected to be the most powerful storm to hit the island in eight years.

Taiwanese officials said two people had been killed and hundreds more injured.

The island's largest annual military drills have been cancelled, along with almost all domestic flights and more than 200 international flights, according to the transport ministry.

The video itself is about Taiwan yeah, but the thumbnail you used is the flood in the Philippines. Very misleading and 'click-baity' and just utterly disrespectful to the people suffering from the flood in the Philippines imo🙄BBC I expect you to know better...

As a Taiwanese, the cover thumbnail doesn’t look like Taiwan. As far as I know from the local news, we don't have such serious flooding.

That thumbnail photo is definitely not Taiwan. It’s not true about the typhoons becoming worse for Taiwan. In the last 10-15 years they’ve become less frequent and not so strong. (Maybe different for Philippines).

Wow that's almost 160 miles per hour for those of us that still use the old imperial system! It just doesn't bear thinking about the power & of course the debris whipped up into the air only to crash down again with intense violence. Those poor people caught unawares having their homes or businesses damaged, it just makes me even more thankful that the UK 🇬🇧 doesn't have that sort of extreme weather.
  • I believe the thumbnail is a pic from Philippine, there're yet pictures terrible enough from Taiwan that match media's taste XD

I'm here. Nothing is happening. 1142pm. And everything is closed. From Houston. We stay open so tourists can eat and enjoy the city.

2:34 When you say "could be" your coverage ceases to be news, and begins to be political opinion.
