Viola deserved awards just for this introduction
  • "Disrespect invites disrespect. Violence incites violence. And when the powerful use their position to bully others we all lose... "

To see someone like Viola Davis fangirl so hard when she herself is so amazing. Gahhh I love these women!

Wow ! just wow ! "Take your broken heart make it into Art."
  • I still remember the day my mother calls herself old and ugly until we watched Dame Meryl Streep together. "That woman is a decade older than you, do you call her old or ugly?", I asked. I think something changed inside my beautiful mom at that moment. I will always be thankful for that.

Meryl Streep has a house in Aspen where she spends a few months of the year. According to the locals she only responds to the name of Mrs Green . My Australian friend stays at a ski lodge not far from Meryl's home. One morning he walked past her on the balcony drinking a coffee , he said loudly " good morning Mrs Green " & she looked down at him and smiled and replied " good morning kind Sir ".

What a woman. Not only a gifted and beautiful actress, but a powerful orator also -with such keen, singing sharp insight and foresight.

She almost broke down when she mentioned Carrie Fisher.

"Disrespect invites disrespect. Violence incites violence. And when the powerful use their position to bully others we all lose... " - hits even harder after what happened in Washington!
  • Adored Viola's introduction, Meryl is the best actress of her and our generation... I love how the Mamma mia soundtrack is played every time she makes an entrance <3

Ohh viola you represented her so beautifully that even if someone didn't know a single thing about her would become her greatest fan......

Haters can hate how much they want but they'll never be as great as these two women: Viola Davis and Meryl Streep, legendary artists

This speech is powerful and it was so important, at the time, almost four years ago, now. We needed speeches like this to give us hope; those of us who knew what horrors were coming shed many years after Trump won because we knew he would attack immigrants and minorities. This speech was a Godsend at that time. Thank you Meryl.

To this day, isn't it funny she said that she had to read, though she didn't even bother reading one word? I love her!
