My key takeaway from the first two episodes is if the chasers say "I don't understand why he's doing this thing – what crucial detail are we missing?", the answer is "the runner has been cursed and can't do the optimal thing he'd normally be doing."
  • @Vailskibum
This feels like it should be an actual TV show tbh
  • Adam's pretty smart but he made a crucial mistake in this episode—trying to get ice cream from McDonalds
  • @JaydenWorth
"Have you been doing it [speaking french] on camera?"
    Sam: "Only when necessary."
also sam: "THE BURGERS OF CALLAIS!!!!"
  • Sam: "I think Ben did it wrong"
Sam: proceeds to travel a net negative distance from his target

I'm liking the new coins system!! It seems it will allow for more interesting routing options than straight cash
  • Regarding the Burghers of Calais, it's a little more than just surrender
The story goes when England was laying siege on Calais in 1347, Philip VI of France ordered the city to hold out no matter the cost. He failed, and starvation forced Calais to surrender. King Edward III said he'd spare Calais' civilians if six of their leaders (burghers) would surrender to him to be yeeted off. He demanded they wear nooses (which you see on the sculpture) and carry the keys to the city and its castle. Six eventually did volunteer, and Saint Pierre took them to the gates. However, they were spared because Edward III's wife Philippa of Hainault intervened because she thought it would be a bad omen for her unborn child. Calais would remain in English hands until 1558 when the French did their own siege.

Sam: "Adam's willing to make a fool out of himself in public"
    Adam: "I've brought disguise"
  • Adam having disguises prepared was SUCH a big brain move, I'm stoked for the next episode
  • @MisterChappy
That no internet curse card really makes it very challenging. would love to see a whole series that revolves around that
  • @devenhull3677
You guys' ability to independently arrive at the same conclusion is impressive
  • @zlorpmann
This is amazing. Please keep this channel for like...ever. Thank you, Half as Interesting person man.
  • @Kiwi2703
I wanna see you do this challenge but ACTUALLY across Europe, not just western Europe. Getting stuck in some slow train in Romania would be hilarious
  • Love that Adam immediately thinks there's no way to find the cost of a hotel without the use of the internet, then realizes he can ask people in person, to his dismay. Also love that he didn't think to just ask them what a more expensive hotel is, as they'd probably get the question enough times while being booked and could recommend something.
  • If you're in Paris I'm pretty sure you could ask everyone on the street which is the most expensive hotel in that area/district. Most people in a big city would know it and be able to communicate in English. And Paris has many very expensive hotels, not like he got that card in a little ville in the middle of nowhere.
  • Adam: "I don't know how much hotels will cost, I have to find a hotel"
Also Adam: There's a hotel right behind him
  • You guys are absolute legends! Adam especially is gonna make a gr8 dad some day "What are you talking about?! The waist-strap is the whole point! The waist-strap redistributes the weight....." 🤣🤣🤣
  • @ausyay
This show is extremely entertaining, literally better than a lot of TV shows, please don’t ever end Jet Lag.
  • @crytocc
Missed opportunity: the curse card disallowed using your phone to research stuff, but it said nothing about the internet. Could have used a library computer!
