John Wycliffe – Morning Star of the Reformation

Published 2022-03-25
Just as sunrise is preceded by the morning star, Martin Luther and the Reformation were preceded by an Oxford professor who laid the groundwork or foundation for the momentous events of the 16th century. This is the story of John Wycliffe – the morning star of the English Reformation.

📺 In this Episode:
There are times in the course of history when streams of thought, new ideologies, and momentous events come together to form defining moments that affect and change the course of human history forever. The 16th century was such a time. A moment in history when a door for massive change opened. It was a time of religious awakening; it saw the invention of the printing press; it was an age of exploration and discovery. And, in a sense, it was all encapsulated in one pivotal moment on the 31st October, 1517, when a young German monk, Martin Luther, strode to the Castle Church in the town of Wittenberg and nailed 95 propositions on the front door. These propositions, or questions, challenged the power and authority of the most powerful empire on earth – an empire that had ruled for a thousand years. His actions set in motion a course of events that would reshape Western civilization and change the world forever. But this pivotal moment didn’t happen in a vacuum. Just as sunrise is proceeded by the morning star so Martin Luther and the Reformation were proceeded by an Oxford professor who laid the groundwork or foundation for the momentous events of the 16th century. This is the story of John Wycliffe – the Morning Star.

Imagine being so dangerous and damaging to Satan that he tries to destroy you not just once, but almost a full generation after you've already died. How awesome is that!

"Salvation is a gift for the guilty, not a reward for the righteous." Powerful statement.
  • It's a beautiful story. We stand on the shoulders of those who went before us. And what a great sacrifice they made

Wycliffe was sooo amazing. He is a true Champion of God. He sparked the reformation, he literally sparked Huss, and Even Luther and Calvin. Wycliffe started it ALL. I cannot wait to shake his hand one day.

Gary Kent: “The principles of God’s Word were not only something to LIVE for, but something to DIE for”. “Wycliffe, Huss & Luther discovered Salvation is a gift for the guilty, not a reward for the righteous”. Life-altering, august Biblical Truths! Thx

This week, your channel simply appeared in my feed. Although I subscribe to other Christian channels, I find your teachings exceptional. This episode was quite educational. Thank you for bringing us this history. God bless you.
  • Very important teaching -- every Christian should learn more about the reformation. They started moving away from the apostacies of the Scarlet Harlot - the corrupted Dark Ages church. The 'picture' of the Way to salvation seen in the Sanctuary had been attacked by that system article by article. For example the shewbread in the Holy Place represented the Word of God, and it was attacked by not allowing it to be distributed or translated in the language of the people. At the time of Luther there was a counter-reformation started by the Jesuits to wipe out the protestants. Initially it was with force - then it moved to being corrupting the churches and creating errant translations of the Bible. There was still more of this corruption to be removed. But the Bible indicating this would not occur until after 1798. (Dan. 12:4, 9) which ended at the end of the 1260 years -- ; Day for a year principle: see Ezekiel 4:5-6, Numbers 14:34, Daniel 9:1-27, “Time times and half a time”: Dan 7:25, Dan 12:7, Rev. 12:14 “a thousand two hundred and three score days”: Rev. 11:3, Rev. 12:6 “forty and two months” : Rev. 11:2, Rev. 13:5 Serious Christians from all denominations came together in different parts of the world in what is often called the Great Awakening. They were serious about coming back to the Pure Word of Truth. These were leading people in the abolition movement, in recognizing the equality of men, and on women's rights. God started opening the book of Daniel to them (Jesus enjoins us to understand the book of Daniel (Matt. 24:15) though it was closed until after 1798. And the book of Daniel is the KEY to unlocking the book of Revelation - which we are called to read and understand. Revelation 1:1-3 KJV 1  The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2  Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. 3  Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. v1 "show unto His servants things which shall shortly come to pass" - this is because at 1798 the end time began as the lead up to the 2nd coming. v2 "signified it" Sign-ified the teaching - it would be in signs and symbols -- these being defined in the Old Testament (mainly Daniel) v3 "blessing" - a blessing pronounced on those that READ and KEEP the teaching of the book of Revelation. Would God pronounce a blessing on that which COULD NOT BE properly understood. Sadly I know of only church that has a proper understanding of Daniel and Revelation - while churches that used to be 'protestant' kept moving back to the Mother church (Mother of Harlots). God has a remnant -- Revelation 14:12 "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." They seek to keep ALL the commandments - including the one that starts with the word "remember". They keep them not to be saved - - but because they are saved. Jesus said -- John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments." Just like with Cain vs Abel -- the final test of God's people is about worship. Do we worship according to our own thoughts, as did Cain. OR will be follow how God has directed us to worship Him. This decision is the mark of the beast (antichrist) issue. ALL protestant reformers agreed on who this antichrist power was, and is. And there are 85 identifiers of this power in scripture (including the 1260 years in which this power would hold full sway during the dark ages). Sadly the vast majority of protestant churches today are teaching Jesuit counter-reformation doctrines, such as secret rapture/futurism, which will be a stumbling block to the majority. Scripture calls us to come out of the teachings of this vile church-state system (God loves people in these systems - but not the system which distorts the truths needed for salvation). Revelation 18:3-5 3  For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. 4  And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. 5  For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. The decision in Rev. 14 is not far off, as the abomination that maketh desolate arises when the Sunday sacredness is proclaimed. God blessed the Sabbath day -- a memorial of His creation. This other power 'thought to change times and laws' (Daniel 7:25 "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time [1260 years -- 538 AD (proclaimed to rule Europe) to 1798AD (General Berthier captured head of this system into exile) - a guise to make people think the power was dissolved]. Obviously the above just scratches the surface. There are many good resources about these truths. Amazing Facts has some good videos as well - Such as "Beast, Bride and Babylon", and "Total Onslaught" from Walter Veith has been a red-pill eye opener for many thousands. Also another marvelous series from Walter Veith is "Rekindling the Reformation" a truly astounding video series which goes through what the reformers learned and where they left off. We need to come back to Worship according to God's dictates - not that of men professing to usurp the prerogatives of God. Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Sola Christos - there is a very small remnant keeping alive the teachings handed down from Jesus to His Apostles... Blessings, RH
