Batman: Earth One Vol. 2

▸ The Riddler has arrived in Gotham and he’s terrorizing the city with his own twisted brand of anarchy. But why is he attacking now, and what is his endgame? The Riddler isn’t Batman’s only problem, as Killer Croc is on the streets and his violent crimes can’t be ignored. Meanwhile, the Dark Knight has trouble reconciling the increasingly conflicting ideologies of Alfred Pennyworth and James Gordon in this gripping re-imagining of the Batman mythology.

  • Riddler is the type of man that distracts batman with collectibles and riddler trophies.

I read the title as “the only thing batman fears” and I immediately said to myself therapy
  • The money in the belt reminds me of how main timeline batman actually carries candies in his utility belt to help calm down children who've witnessed crimes or who are victims of it.

Street-level Batman stories are always my favorite DC material. The gritty, realistic touch always gives us such phenomenal stories. Thank you for covering this! I'm loving it!

Not making the Earth One comics more mainstream and continuing them was a loss DC will never recover from because ALL of them are so good it legit makes no damn sense. We DESERVE more of these Earth One stories. I'd do anything to get more and more of them

Killer Croc joining the Bat family actually had me saying "WHAT?!?" out loud. Dope. Dope dope dope

Pretty cool to see bats actually failing and having to deal with the consequences instead of having plot armor for days
  • "the elevator was broken" is a better answer than "he wasn't tall enough to press the button."
  • Batman carries a Bat-Wallet incase he crashes into someone's balcony and accidentally ruins their pots.

Harvey Bullock descending from a beautiful celebrity into who his is in BTAS is the kind of tragedy that makes the Batman franchise work when it's at its best. The Clock King, Killer Croc, Baby Doll, Two Face, Clay Face, Mr. Freeze, etc all had tragic backstories that nudged them into becoming villains and supervillains. Bullock just didn't have the fantastic circumstances or genius that transformed the rest into villains. Throughout the time we see him, he is dying a hero, just very, very slowly and in a self-inflicted, para-suicidal way. It's really good writing.
  • 3:49 Riddler...Jesus. How long were you holding it in to "make" a question mark that big? Sicko. Still, he didn't hide a bunch of trophies that needed to be found. So he's not a complete menace.

Sweaty money is invaluable: you break something you pay for it. The shadowrun game teaches you this - make a mistake, you pay.

85 years of Batman stories and the gritty down to earth dramas along with exceptional artwork never gets old.
