Christ is King! Plus, Dispensationalism Defended | Grace Life Podast | Joel & Friends

It's a sensitive topic, so with a light touch I say that, in my limited experience, people who say "Jesus is King" typically say it for two reasons or purposes. The first and by far the largest group says it to mean that the countries of the world are under Jesus' authority NOW, or that the individual saying it is under Jesus' authority ONLY and that they don't have to listen to the man-made governments of the world or their country or state. Think theonomists, reconstructionists, Christian constitutionalists, etc. Lots of folks that think we are supposed to be building the Kingdom NOW. It is not a statement of doctrine or bible study but rather an attempt to resist present political authority they don't like. The second group does indeed mean it as a slap in the face to Jews, as in, "Jesus is King! <slap> Take that!" There is no grace or attempt to educate. Just a verbal slap in the face, without mercy, contrary to Rom 11:31. Members of both these groups believe the most outlandish Jewish conspiracies imaginable. A Bible-reading Christian would not be unreasonable to wonder about their salvation after speaking with them for a few minutes. Grace. : )
