Many of the best RPGs of all time were not the first in their series so it always sucks to see a promising game not get other chances down the road to really build upon their formula. This video highlights 8 awesome titles that were already great on their own but unfortunately never got a second chance to develop into a full-on series.

Xenogears modern remake divided in two games or an HD-2D remake with everything fleshed out
  • Rogue Galaxy is a certified hood classic. I played it/rented it so much in high school that after the 5th rental the dude at the counter was like "keep it, man". I hope that dude gets everything he ever wanted in life.

Playing Xenogears for the first time! 17 hours in and I’m loving it so much. It’s already made a case for being in my top 10-15 favorite RPGs of all time. Every bit of it continues to impress me — it’s incredibly cinematic, bursting with wild ideas, interesting characters, creative-varied gameplay and a super fun combat system, deep world-building and lore, great aesthetics and art work, and just… has such a “cool” factor to it. Plus mechs!!!

I see The Legend of Dragoon in the thumbnail and I must watch and agree. Crystalis on this list! Also agree with that.

Man, nobody ever puts Threads of Fate on these lists. Threads of Fate is one of the best PS1 games and a sequel was even teased in the true ending. I was so mad for so many years that it never got a sequel. Now, I've just given up hope completely.
  • A list that includes LoD, Lost Odyssey and Xenogears? Man I thought it was a list of my top 10 at first lol I wish all of these got sequels. I would so eat it up
  • I argue that rather than a sequel, that The Legend of Dragoon deserves a remake & prequel. There is so much that happens before the events of the game that it be worth playing through especially with the prior Dragoon Spirit Holders in the Wingly Dragon Campaign War. With a remake it's obvious so much they could improve upon to truly make it better. A better translation, consistent & improved voice acting, updated graphics, better stat balancing for characters like Rose, give Shana & Miranda actual cool additions & not have the exact same stats,(seriously it never made sense why Miranda was as weak as Shana especially since she was a trained warrior unlike Shana prior her joining), different weapons designs visually, bigger inventory capacity, easier inventory sorting management.

I forgot all about the LOD pause screen lol. It gave me BOF3 vibes. That OST was 🔥

I remember that Microsoft actually wanted to turn Lost Odyssey into a full franchise, because it was impressed by its sales in both Japan and US. However, due to the some conflicts between Mistwalker and Microsoft that didn't happened and the title didn't get the sequel. Great video as always!
  • so glad you mentioned legend of dragoon in this video. it was the first game that came to mind as soon as I saw the title
  • Thank you for saying FF XIII was ok. I really enjoyed them. My son had just been born when I got my ps3 and the man trying to save his son in the first title resonated with me.

Guardian's Crusade is one of my favorite games of all time. This was while I played Brave Fencer Musashi as well. I was a happy kid with those two.

I still have to play Lost Odissey before I die.

I liked the peek behind the curtain with the mic being hit. That gave me a good laugh.

I love anytime someone recognizes how cool the menu theme is for Legend of Dragoon

Awesome video! I really enjoy how you show little clips and moments from the game as they completely give me that "Oh yeah! I forgot about that!" moment. Those are the little things that make me want to replay a game.
