Best tip I got as a beginner was: Braking early is better than braking too late. And also: Braking is not about slowing down, it's about getting around the track faster.

Not a go kart fan, just Miata, however this was such a well done video! Should be required viewing for racing.

#3 & 4 are my favorite. The first time i drove 9hp kart I wasn't sure of the lines. There was certain corners i knew i was not fast. I just knew you needed to Prioritize corners leading onto straights. Once i started playing follow the leader with a faster driver thats when i began to find the faster lines and using my brakes as traction coming out of corners. I never did beat him but i did see my lap times decrease from 1:12 to 1:10 to 1:09 to 1:08 and eventually 1:06.5

Thx man my family where planning to go kart racing and I never done a cart race before but with this video I was first place
  • Great video, just went out a day ago to our local indoor track was very early no one on the track but had fun, did make the rookie mistake of going for 20 laps instead of starting with 10, so I go tired around lap 12/13, but had fun and want to go on a weekly basis, and also get my own kart. Warm regards from Port Elizabeth, South Africa

i think for the turn n°2 you could actually take it with a late apex to be even faster in the next turn chain as they could be taken straight
  • @Atrix..

Adding to point 5. I’m 50 pounds at least more than many of my friends I’m so tall I barely fit in carts. But I race my own times. I try to get faster and more consistent with each race.

This track discussed is On Track Karting in Wallingford, CT. Didn't expect to see the closest track to my home on a video like this.
  • Good tips, watched it to beat my sister's boyfriend and ended up placing top 1/4 of the session in my first time karting so it seems to work

One thing that I never noticed until now was that I always stayed on the inside and never thought about taking wider turns for more speed
