About Professor Dr Mohd. Tajuddin Bin Mohd. Rasdi

Professor Dr. Mohamad Tajuddin bin Haji Mohamad Rasdi is a renowned veteran academic at Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, UCSI University. He was Professor and Lecturer at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Built Environment at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia for 27 years. He read his Bachelors in Architectural Studies and Master of Architecture at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee in 1984 and 1986 respectively. In 1996 he was conferred a Doctorate in Architecture from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He specializes in theory and history of architecture with emphasis on the ideas of Islamic Architecture from the perspectives of the Prophet Muhammad’s Sunnah (traditions) and the framework of early western modernist thoughts. He has published 43 books and articles on the subject of mosque designs, housing, Islamic architecture and national architectural identity based on the principles of Multi-culturalism and Democracy. Dr. Mohamad Tajuddin was the Director of KALAM (Center for the Study of Built Environment in the Malay World, UTM). He is the Advisor and founder of MASSA, Center for the Study of Modern Architecture in Southeast Asia, based in Taylors University College.

He has also founded and is the Advisor of the Center for the Study of Islamic Architecture from the Sunnah at the Universitas Islam Nagari, Malang, Indonesia. Dr. M. Tajuddin has written and given many interviews to local television networks RTM1 and TV3, newspapers such as Utusan Malaysia, New Straits Times, STAR and Sin Chiew Jit Poh. Apart from his main academic fields his ‘crusade’ is to bring changes to public policies and perception on cultural and value based design ideas in the realm of community architecture. He was a columnist for 4 years (2006-2010) and wrote in the monthly column ‘Architecture Inside Out’ in The Sunday Star.

  • Agreed In the 60s there were no issues. The then malay community was living in harmony with everyone. When the govt sent students to middle east countries They import islamic full teaching. And mahatir malay first policy and nep has changed the malsys and desire to increase the malay by bringing in Indonesian liberally and Muslims refugee to increase has affected the harmony in country
  • The late prime Minister of Singapore is a wise man when he comes to religions, he's ending saying is that what makes you think that other people religion is supecious while your book is not, let them be as long as no one trying to impose their religion on others will bring peace and harmony, we do want to said a religion cannot coexist with other religion keep your religion to yourself and we can have a better tomorrow,

  • Not everyone can interpret Quran. But I think this Dr knows what is tafsir Al-Quran and who is prophet companion Ibnu-Abbas. He said religion has no name, but I'm sure he knows Surah Ali-Imran verses 19 in Quran. Anyway in the Quran said there will be a group of people who will interpret Quran by following his own lust. It seems this Dr is spot on.
