Winter Homesteading ~ Wild Pork & Watercress

Published 2023-06-18
We hunt when the weather is cold so our dogs do not over heat but also because there is less fire risk and the pine forestry is open up to us o hunt. We pay $100 for a hunting permit and take our dogs in to hunt down wild pigs. Our gardens, trees, chickens, livestock, paddock, sea, rivers & lakes often provides the rest. What we can not harvest from there we buy in at our local store.

old rule of thumb, plant Garlic on the shortest day - harvest on the longest day. You're looking well Clay, so is Tristan.

"You don't just do what you like but you have to like what you do" is absolutely my moto, ultimately I like making things and seeing them work as I imagined which makes me willing to put up with the sound of an angle grinder and occasional steel splinters or crawling around on my hands and knees or what ever I have to do at that moment for those few minutes of seeing something work that made my life a bit better.

Love your videos. Grew up in Nelson but left in 1998 to start a new life in QLD Australia. You know how to make a bloke homesick.😪

My son has named a local duck in town super duck. The owners bring their ducks down to the river for a swim. "Look, mum, super duck". 😂
  • Hello great man. Love everything you do on Utube. Would just like to say, the seeds in apples are full of vitamin B17! A cancer killer! Not far behind the Apricot kernel! Kind regards, Ken McArthur. "Main Lander. but living on the Gold Coast, "at the moment ".

I love old Po. She’s such a kindhearted girl. Unless you are a pig or rat… then you’re farked🤣. I think I remember asking you years ago about getting your dogs “fixed “ as it’s called in the states. It really does fox a lot of problems and if you don’t plan to breed them it has many health benefits.
