Mimi Chan's Testimony @ Fiscal Policy Committee Hearing to amend SB 1430 w/ AAPI History Requirement

This video is from the March 25, 2023 Senate Fiscal Policy Committee hearing. Our original bill SB 294, Required Instruction in the History of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, did not progress to its subsequent committees after being unanimously voted out of its first of three, the Education Pre-K - 12 Committee. As a result, MUVFL volunteers advocated and worked with legislators to add an amendment to education bill SB 1430 during the Fiscal Policy Committee hearing. SB 1430's sister bill, HB 1537, which also had an AAPI history inclusion amendment, was passed and signed into law.
