So excited there are players winning with weird characters. Hope this trend continues in upcoming majors.
  • @Boodabam
This isn't a video about regalo's fucking incredible run It's a video about Lucas "beating" Steve when both the Steve players and regalo himself do not believe that to be true
  • @CleftCore
Being a Lucas main, it’s cool how much hype Lucas has gotten this year from Nitox to Gimr tech and to now being a possible solution to the Steve problem with Regalo.
  • @VJ-Vice
“Highly technical Lucas play” Shows him missing a djc zair input as he’s saying it I swear that had to be on purpose
  • @BigBadLoser
Regalos' games were easily my favorite games of the tournament. Immaculate gameplay that actually hype and had me popping off for him
  • @RockManSSB
Note you don’t always need to spike. With minecart so long as you hit Steve with a strong enough move (most sword moves and a good amount of bairs work considering minecart is frame 18). Both are effective

Saying Lucas is the counter to Steve definitely bodes completely wrong. Even regalo himself doesn't think it's winning, he did beat Yonni, sure. But yonni also didn't know the matchup. It's moreso character inexperience.
  • i feel like this discredits regalo a ton??? the matchup isn't particularly good for lucas and i think it just comes down to regalo playing well, not his character pick

Regalo placing 9th at Smashcon via Lucas is an amazing way to prove how balanced this game is. He even took down Yonni's Steve. I'm super happy about this. Speaking of Steve, I found some good counterplay against him, including something SUPER insane with Corrin. Corrin's Down air beats the entirety of Steve's up Smash! Corrin drills right through the magma block then punishes Steve, and Corrin goes unharmed. Corrin's Bair also beats Minecart in one hit, whilst hitting Steve. I have a clip of this already and I'm working on more Steve counterplay videos for the Corrin mains. I found a lot of useful techniques hehehe...

Why isn't this about how incredibly skilled Regalo is, and detailing his miracle run? It's just a misleading matchup analysis.
  • @pkchiptune
didn't like this video tbh, like half of the video was spent talking on steve rather than lucas. it's definitely nice to see a lucas rank high, but this was not because he wins the matchup. saw someone on twitter say this, and i agree—you really should've actually contacted regalo if you wanted to make a video on his run. shortly after his win, regalo tweeted that the matchup is super in favor of steve. probably better to take his word on it
  • As both a Mother fan and a Ness main, it makes me both happy and excited to see lucas make it so far at such a big tournament!
  • @bacon8828
imagine if the video about REGALO’s LUCAS actually talked about REGALO or LUCAS and not about Minecraft fucking Steve
  • One of the things I feel are lacking in ultimate is character specific movement tech, lucas with his snake cancels and diddy with his peanut cancels and ledge canceled monkey flips are super cool and I wish more characters had thing like this.
  • @Glurfl
Watching Regalo destroy Yonni was my favorite of the entire tournament. I’ll never forget that moment
  • @NarniaJGC
It's also impressive because he got Destroyed by Riku, a SFL Steve at CEO. Something must have clicked since then.
  • @anwnerd1762
Lucas Wins! Everyone even Lucas himself: Huh?
  • @ajregalia1334
I LOVE breakdowns like this! The comparisons of frame data, hitboxes and hurtbox shifting, and the detailed explanation alongside result statistics of why this move became so effective. So cool!
  • @Joker938
What they forgot to mention was how incredibly hype the crowd was, you only see a little bit in the in the background of the videos. NC was super hype at that tournament & I loved cheering for Regalo & I've never seen him before & I'm from Maryland. This is one reason why going to tournaments is something incredible. ESPECIALLY Smash Con.
