Love JR. His drumming is always fresh and his outlook refreshing. If Jeff Porcaro had lived it would have been so interesting to see how the first-call gigs would have materialized for each, and the continuing specialization they would both have brought to the drumming community.

This guy is a legend. Higher love was the first time I learned about him.

My first introduction to this man, believe it or not, was back when I was age 4 during the RUFUS & CHAKA Masterjam era. Of course, OFF THE WALL too, but it was shortly after I started to realize the brilliance.👍

I just learned that JR Robinson was the drummer on Chaka Kahn's "Through the Fire." What a great, great drum composition /accompaniment he played on that song.

"Even when there's no time, there's still time." Yes Sir JR!!!

Always great to see videos featuring the one and only JR Robinson. I got to know JR back in 2003 when I was invited to do the Yamaha Groove Night in LA that year. We got such a great report that we ended up doing some duo clinics in Scandinavia later that year. His enthusiasm and commitment to music and drums is truly something special. Thanks!

Great to hear Jr sharing his life story. Music really is the best addiction.

What a fantastic human being 👍 John is so humble and down to earth. John is a fine example of the phrase What a nice guy. So nice that he is not arrogant or cocky from the amount of success he has had. Thank you John for being a fantastic example of someone to look up to. A true gem.🙂👍

Filling in the blanks.I didn’t know this was the guy playing the drums on more than a few of my favorite iconic recordings in the popular/rock idiom. Great video interview. So much to take away from this.

This is pure gold.

Love this! Well-done, insightful, engaging, fun and encouraging--JR's words and his masterful playing both stand out so well via the way this short film was shot and edited. Great job, everybody! Thank you for producing this interview, Soundbrenner!

John is an absolute legend. He played it with me at Ocean Way Studio on a song I wrote with Jon Anderson called “ It’s On Fire”. Jimmy Haslip is on bass and I ( Don Freeman) am on piano. Unusual tune and John made up his own part which you’d just have to hear. Brilliant drummer!

Wonderful video guys. I hope I get to make a few of these with you someday. Cheers, Jason in Tokyo

JR = excellent highly-versatile drummer. "Becoming" the most recorded drummer in history. Hal Blaine is probably, THE most recorded drummer in history. Claiming over 35,000 sessions and 6000 singles. And just passed away in March, 2019.
