Stage 2 South is a significant expansion project of Ottawa's O-Train network. The first of the Stage 2 extensions to open, it focuses on extending the O-Train Trillium Line further south, adding approximately 8 kilometres of new tracks and eight new stations to the O-Train network (Limebank, Bowesville, Leitrim, South Keys, Airport, Uplands, Walkley and Corso Italia). This line will also introduce new rolling stock (Stadler FLIRT Diesel-Electric Multiple Unit), upgraded signalling and additional double-tracking to improve operations. Once opened, trains will travel from Bayview to Limebank every 12 minutes with an Airport Shuttle between South Keys and Airport Station.
As of the publishing of this video, some works remain to complete the stations and their finishes, systems certification, as well as the training of operators. Line 2 and 4 are currently expected to open during the Summer of 2024.
The project aims to enhance connectivity and accessibility for residents and visitors in the southern areas of Ottawa. It will provide efficient and reliable transit options for commuters, reducing travel times and congestion on the roads as well as offer additional options for residents of the growing south-end communities.
All footage shown in this video was shot on May 5, 2024.

Hope to see more footage of the East and West Extensions for Lines 1 and 3 soon. There has been a huge amount of progress on both. The Sneak Peeks are really cool as well. I hope to see you and fellow Rail Fans and YouTubers for Lines 2 and 4 Launch Day!!!

Just Saw Progress on Line 1... Rail lines are being put between Moodie and Bay shore and Progress looks good on the West End.

Two new features of the Trillium line not shown here are the bridge near Brookfield (replacing the Elwood diamond level crossing) and the pedestrian bridge over the Rideau River between Carleton University and Vincent Massey Park.

Cool, wonder if they plan to electrify it in the future.

Is it just me, or are the trains running quite slow? I've been seeing them at Carleton all the time, they always take ages to pull in and out of the station

I have been working on this project. I've delivered and poured concrete to every single station and tunnel segment. I have personally delivered about 25,000 m³. Watching this project from start to finish is spectacular. I have a lot of photos of before and after. If the host of this channel would like some exclusive photos from interiors of tunnels, stations and construction sites, just respond to this message. I would love to share all of these photos instead of just keeping them on my phone to show friends from time to time. I also have some video clips.

I wonder if theyll eventually extend it to barrhaven and connect it with line 1 there too
