  • Ken Brown, on the Birckbeck team here, is my father. He died last May, and I have no videos or recordings of him at all. I can't tell you how much it means to me to have tracked this down here. Thank you. It's all I have left of his voice.

Come for Tom Scott, stay for Victoria Coren

Ha, this is the first episode I've watched from this early in the show's history, and it absolutely confirms my hypothesis that, in later episodes, the 'Missing Vowels' clues come up on the screen before the contestants see them. I was starting to think I was some sort of super genius because I often got them well before the contestants, but here they were just as quick as me... in fact, quicker, really :P

First episode where a team got a 2 point bonus for a perfect 10 on the grid. Also features the first "5 point" answer.

David Stainer looks like a young Dwight Schrute. 😋

You can tell this is an early episode because no one reacts with dread when the music question comes up.

Some of the reaction times in missing vowels was incredible. When a 4+ word phrase has barely appeared and they've already buzzed in
  • The "semibreve" threw me off. I've always seen it referred to as "whole note"... learn something every day :)

"Let's meet the crossworders" and little did they know they would be the best team ever to play the game :D

This is a great series. I only came to it in series 10 but am now going to watch them all

I know this is the second episode overall, but R1 Delta really rubs me the wrong way with the first clue - sure, it's a semibreve, but it's more commonly known as a whole note, because it fills a whole bar. A minim, or half note, would have been a better first clue in my opinion.
  • May 2021. Ah! I first listened to the Marillion on 1986 and 35 years later I found out where their name comes from!

The Birkbeck team was exceedingly lucky with the wall. Both with the Irish counties and the presidential candidates.

I wonder like how and where do they collect all these informations, MiNd bLoWiNg🤯
