  • I absolutely adore the scene where Beni first sees the Mummy, immediately pulls out tons of necklaces and starts reciting prayers from every religion in any language he can remember out of desperation. As I've gotten older I've grown to really love and respect the hustle of villain character who runs away and is a coward.

Fun fact: Brendan wasn’t fighting any stuntmen during the end battle. He was told to just swing at the air and imagine mummies attacking him. He’s just such a good actor that he could convincingly fake the impact of the sword.

The eyes thing isn't a plot hole, it's actually part of the plot. The fact that the guy's eyesight is so bad is why the Mummy mistakes Evelyn for Anck-su-namun. One of the more clever little aspects of the movie if you ask me.

The Rock actually does remember being in The Mummy Returns. He did an interview where he basically said Brendan Fraser is the reason he had a movie career to begin with and is completely grateful to him all these years later.
  • @ViKatamari
54:18 the movie actually explains that! Imhotep flees when he see the cat, then Evie's boss explain that "cats are the guardians of the underworld" and in another scene O'Conell grabs the cat and says "LOOK WHAT I GOT!" to scare Imhotep away

One thing that is not specifically said in the movies but is likely to be true is that Johnatan is WWI veteran who suffers from PTSD or Shellshock as they called it back then. It would explain his behaviour and marksman skills. Clearest indication of it is the very first line he says: "Sometimes I'd rather like to join them (the dead)". When you watch the movies with this in mind you'll see his character in very different light.
  • @scififan21
Oh yes my husband and I can also quote the whole movie. We do those one-liners all the time and random ones. "Think of my children." "You don't have any children." "Someday I might."
  • @jongon0848
I actually loved Ardeth Bay being excited about being on the plane. It was a nice character moment that felt perfectly organic, he has another character moment similar in the sequel when he says "this was my first bus ride." After almost dying after fighting a mummy on a bus.
  • @ZackaryBiagi
The scene where Evie does the domino effect in the library was actually one take. I imagine how excited and relieved everyone was when it went perfectly because it'd be a HUGE pain in the ass the set it all back up

Chelsea; the actor who plays the Nubian in the 1932 film is Noble Johnson. He’s a pretty interesting guy. Johnson started his own production company in the silent era that primarily made films for African American audiences. He also happened to be buddies with Lon Chaney Sr. He also played the native chief in the og King Kong. He was made-up to have a darker skin tone than his own for his role in The Mummy but he was African American himself.

One of my favourite movies ever. It’s even better now that Brendan and Rachel are Oscar winners. Also this movie blends so many genres perfectly. Horror, adventure, comedy, Romance and action. Such a fun movie
  • This movie was a yearlong hyper-fixation when I was a kid. So glad to see it on the podcast, and Brendan Fraser continues to be THE MAN.
  • Chelsea getting horror scenes described to her as a kid is exactly how I got into horror by watching Dead Meat 😂 keep the tradition alive!
  • Seeing Molly just being all sleepy and being passed around to be held by you two is so cute
  • "Hey, O'Connell! Looks to me like I've got all the horses!" - One of my favorite scenes. I belly laughed more than I probably should have at 12 years old. I'm forever on the Rick O'Connell crush train. Thanks for posting and hope you're doing well! ❤️
  • @quikkill1501
As a 9 year old that thought of the scarab beetles crawling under my skin kept me up soo many nights. Love this movie and love you guys
  • I won't lie, at 29:15 James' complete silence at "twitterpated" had me laughing out loud omg. I knew exactly what Chelsea was referring to!
  • @Mitsu2040
I actually think that Ardeth Bay's reaction to flying (possibly for the first time) gave him a much needed quirk that he wouldn't otherwise have and prevented him from being a one-note character. It showed that he does belong with this group of quirky people in his own way.
  • @dramamole
In the sequel it is revealed that Evie is the reincarnation of the Pharaoh's daughter. Also taking Byrne's eyes isn't a plot hole. That's why he mistakes Evie for Anuksunamun, he can't see a well So happy you guys did this. I grew up quoting this and the sequel all of the time. Still love both of the first 2 movies. Just an enjoyable time
