This is the rescued leveret, a European brown hare, who is being kept safe during the months of the hare hunting season here in SW France. As he has got older he has been allowed more freedom - but, still too small to be safe from owls and foxes, he is encouraged to spend each night in an outbuilding. He comes in when it gets dark after feeding on grass and wild plants in the large enclosed garden where he spends his days.
