I love that! He should be mad, I'm mad about what happened to Elvis. R.I.P the KING. Thank God for Elvis Presley! Always loved and Never forgotten! From the UK ❤
  • Beautiful voice, beautiful soul!! Little joy in your life and not enough true love. Gone too soon!! Now you are not alone anymore; you are with your parents, your twin, Lisa Marie, and Benjamin. RIP Elvis.
  • He does not deserve to be called “Colonel”. He deserved to be called “Phony” or “Fraud”.

I spent an hour with these guys many years ago. Love them or loathe them .. I was happy just to hang with them. Lamar did me an autograph which read “To Gary - Thanks Elvis Presley” .. still have it too 😁

You can feel the love those guys had for him, poor Lamar. I despise the colonel, Elvis didn't need him one bit. It's horrible, he was wore out, used!

Awww, always liked Lamar. He's so sad at the end. Jerry was great too. Elvis did have some people who truly cared about him. Larry did too. I've heard him recount that story different times. Must have been so frustrating to watch how things played out. And Lamar has the nicest voice. Elvis was just the greatest, period. May he rest in piece with the rest of his family who is in heaven. Bless his soul.

You can and should try to help but you can't save a man from himself.
  • It's okay now to blame Parker if you all knew about the way he treated Elvis then why did you not do anything to help him That is what friends and family do. I can understand it was difficult but something could have been done. Anyway God Bless Elvis he was a good man RIP we love you.x
  • Very hard to believe what came out of some of these guys mouths. I've heard Fike say he disliked Parker and he liked him. I've heard Esposito say it was a rumor he gave Elvis mouth to mouth when he died, then in another interview on Geraldo Rivera he said he did. Same thing with Priscilla, changing stories always. The truth never changes, it's told consistently. Vicki

vernon should have been stronger and smarter in supporting elvis to fire parker
  • Elvis' success was in spite of Parker NOT because of him. Why Parker was not sacked has always worried me. Steve Binder had it right - Elvis died of boredom.
  • Elvis died when I was seven and I was upset about it, but I would love them and able to shake a man’s hand in and been at one of his concerts live rest in peace Elvis, you are the music king
  • Plain and simple: Elvis was a human being that needed help, and nobody did enough, it was all about money.........until he died, the sader story ever

I don't think at that time Elvis would not have garnered the opportunities he got so fast, nor would he died so young. Elvis knew he could do so much more. He died primarily of dissapointment and boredom. He wanted to be a serious actor like Brando, he wanted to tour Europe, not stay in Vegas for a decade and a half. He became a cash cow and he also had bills to pay so he felt trapped. He had guys to play, he had obligations and fans. He was generous to a fault buying complete stragers Cadillacs and the "Colonel " a jet. He wanted to be loved. Also, Geller wanted Presley off drugs, enjoying nature, excercising and getting in tune with himself. Elvis "quiet quit" in this generations terms of what we used to cal "phoning it in". The Colonel also had an addiction or so. It was a symbiotic relationship. Lots of people were living off Elvis.

After watching this whole special, I have no doubt that Elvis was bi-polar and between that and his country boy makes good attitude and the pressure of handing out his hard earned money to everyone who had his hand out killed him. The Memphis Mafia was just as culpable as Col. Parker except they did care about him MORE than just a pay check. Can you imagine each of them going to Elvis with their petty problems, "lamar did this" and "Joe did this" each wanting to be his bestie and fighting for Elvis' attention and favour. I could feel what he went through. I'm sure the drugs helped at first and it made him the work horse that everyone needed him to be, then they bitched about it not seeing that he couldn't keep up mentally, emotionally, and physically. They vilified Elvis for the drugs, not seeing that his responsibilities to THEM is what drove him to them.

I feel sorry for Elvis, because he was alone. He had the Memphis mafia, but nobody really knew how he was feeling because he had to share everything with no one. The Beatles at least had each other to experience what they went through. Elvis had nobody.
  • Parker is to blame, that’s for sure. But he can’t take all the blame since he wasn’t working alone. As far as it’s known, Priscilla was Parker’s only ally and while the boys also exploited and took advantage of Elvis, they did it on their own. That means, the blame should be distributed equally since they were all guilty of the same crime.

They should have confronted Parker as a group when Elvis was alive because Parker was working Elvis in to the ground so he could pay off his massive gambling debts. Parker was a man with no compassion or respect and Elvis should have fired him.
