For those who do not know: Dylan Thomas is a famous Welsh writer and poet born in 1914 and died in 1953. Patti Smith is also a literary phenomenon - simultaneously a poet, songwriter, painter, singer and author all at once - born in 1947. She is still an active writer to this day. The Chelsea Hotel is a famous hotel located in Manhattan. The line, “you’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patti Smith, this ain’t the Chelsea Hotel” not only tells us that they’re not that talented, it also means that they’re trying not to be the kind of songwriters who let their tortured traits crucial to their work, and in turn, let everyone see their true self.

Living while this album was released is such an honor
