Cool fact: The entire movie was not motion capped it was animated using actual footage of the voice actors, they were told to act out the scenes. I love how realistic the characters (especially The Spirit of the West) look, yet they look super uncanny.

Rango will always be a comfort film. As a person who is constantly struggling to find their own identity, Rango is such a relatable and fun character. "Who am I? I can be anyone." will always stick with me.

Rattle Snake Jake is one of the best animated villains ever. His design is fantastic, he's super intimidating, and Bill Nighy does an amazing voice performance. Him facing Rango is basically a reunion of Davy Jones and Jack Sparrow.

"It only takes one bullet." "You ain’t got the nerve." "...Try me." The movie was already golden but those lines are legendary. 🔥

The fact that Rango beat Kung Fu Panda 2 and Puss In Boots at the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at that time was freaking awesome. I can't remember the last time I felt so thirsty while watching a movie than this, you can just feel the damn heat in the movie

Compared to animations these days Rango actually looked like next gen! I remember being creeped out as a kid over the weirdness of this movie but only now do I truly understand what a unique masterpiece this was.

Rango is by far the most underrated and under-appreciated Johnny Depp film of all-time and deserves to be recognized.

"Go to hell!" "Oh Honey, where do you think I come from?" Rattlesnake Jake is one of the most badass villains..I always smile widely when I see the "Sheriff" get shot up

When rango said "Believe in that sign, for as it hangs, there is hope..." the sign got shot down by rattlesnake jake and even after that, it was still hanging. Lots of hidden messages in this movie is what I enjoy the most.

Rango is one of the ugliest talking animal movies I've ever seen, and that's part of what makes it so great. The designs really do feel dry, dusty, and gritty, just like the desert and westerns, and Rango clearly stands out from the others with his bright, clean design. As a kid this made the movie feel boring to me but now I see it as charming genius.

Fun fact: this movie was made with enhanced method acting. Essentially the VAs filmed the entire movie as themselves, and based the animation on their movements and facial expressions. They did the same thing in fantastic Mr fox.

The scene where Rango stumbled upon Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo makes the cameo even funnier, not just because it's a nod to Johnny Depp's previous role, but it's because I forgot that Rango is a Nickelodeon movie, meaning that the events of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is canon to the Nickelodeon lore.

I love that the Spirit of the west looks like Clint Eastwood but voiced by Timothy Olyphant (the modern go-to lawman in westerns)

Not surprised this won for Animated Feature. The design for the reptiles and the town is really well made. Plus, I love the western theme for it.
