Today I will be discussing the increasingly popular Kombucha beverages. Kombucha is a fermented drink made with tea, sugar, bacteria and yeast.

So before you go picking up sodas: coca cola, pepsi or mountain dew, consider kombucha as a low calorie carbonated alternative.

Blueberry Mint Kombucha:
30 calories, 6 gram of sugar for a 12 oz serving

Mango lime flavored Kombucha:
60 calories, 15 grams of sugar for a 15 oz serving

Pomegranate flavored Kombucha:
80 calories, 16 grams of sugar for a 16 oz serving

Kombucha is a good source of probiotics, necessary for gut health. It contains antioxidants needed to fight off free radicals in our body. May help in reducing chronic diseases such as hearth disease and type 2 diabetes. However, some research has shown that some people w/ IBS might not benefit from consuming Kombucha due to an overgrowth of a specific bacteria in their gut.

Kombucha is not recommended for pregnant or lactating women due to its small amount of alcohol and caffeine content.
