Every editor started from 0. 0 equipment, 0 experience, 0 skills. This is my story of how I became resourceful to start video editing, making me a consistent income, even if I started with a sh*tty laptop.

Rules:
- It's not the resources you have, its how resourceful you can be.
- Your network is your networth
- Treat freelancing as a business
- Don't ask to edit for free. Just send a free edit to prospects

Let me know if any of this resonated, would love to hear about your journey.

Really cool story, i find myself to be in a similar place to you, started editing for basically no price to make a portfolio so that i can get clients. I am honestly very interested in how much pay do you average in this business, if you dont mind sharing. I work for youtubers and make long form content with my pay ranging from 200 to 300 per video and honestly im really not sure whether i should be satisfied with this or not. Granted there are many elements to the work/pay ratio, i'd still really love to hear your side on this manner

Hey Adam great video! I have a question, at what point did you feel confident enough in your skills to start reaching out to people?

Hi Adam ,I really appreciate your journey .I use capcut pc to edit short form videos .Can I start freelancing using this software? I'm planning to work on my LinkedIn profile from scratch and feed some content on it for attracting potential clients . Is this something that will help me get clients over time ?Even I don't have any experience working with agencies or doing any internships though. Thanks 😊
  • Adam i watched this whole video and found it relatable ( the shitty laptop part). How can i edit videos part time with college and earn enough to buy a good laptop the problem is clients want animations and a lot of elements in the videos and the shitty laptop can't just process all this. This one thing is stopping my progress a lot . I know about proxies but do you think that only Premiere pro and no animations done from scratch can get me enough clients
  • What's up bro! A couple of days back I was editing a video for a client who was interested in my video editing services. I have a really shitty laptop even worse than yours (literally a dual core i3) and I used proxy videos to edit all of the content. But when it came to exporting, though I used proxy videos I had to export the video in 4k (my client wanted the video in 4k). When I tried exporting the video, my laptop simply crashed every single time I tried to export and now because of that I can't work with my client. So, is there any way that I can get my laptop to export 4k video or is it just not possible and I will have to buy a new laptop itself? Thanks!
