Lyrics

There's blood on the side of the mountain
There's writing all over the wall
Shadows of us are still dancin'
In every room and every hall
There's snow fallin' over the city
You thought that it would wash away
The bitter taste of my fury
And all of the messes you made
Yeah, you think that you got away

But I'm in the trees, I'm in the breeze
My footsteps on the ground
You'll see my face in every place
But you can't catch me now
Through wading grass, the months will pass
You'll feel it all around
I'm here, I'm there, I'm evеrywhere
But you can't catch me now
No, you can't catch mе now

Bet you thought I'd never do it
Thought it'd go over my head
I bet you figured I'd pass with the winter
Be somethin' easy to forget
Oh, you think I'm gone 'cause I left

But I'm in the trees, I'm in the breeze
My footsteps on the ground
You'll see my face in every place
But you can't catch me now
Through wading grass, the months will pass
You'll feel it all around
I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere
But you can't catch me now
No, you can't catch me now

Ooh
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh

You can't, you can't catch me now
I'm comin' like a storm into your town
You can't, you can't catch me now
I'm higher than the hopes that you brought down
You can't, you can't catch me now
I'm comin' like a storm into your town
You can't, you can't catch me now
I'm higher than the hopes that you brought down
You can't, you can't catch me now
I'm comin' like a storm into your town
You can't, you can't catch me now
You can't, you can't, you can't

There's blood on the side of the mountain
It's turning a new shade of red
Yeah, sometimes the fire you founded
Don't burn the way you'd expect
Yeah, you thought that this was the end

I LOVE how the song ends with a reference to Katniss. 'Sometimes the fire you founded don't burn the way you'd expect. Yeah you thought that this was the end' Lucy was the spark. Katniss was the uncontrollable fire.
  • The contrast this song has with safe and sound is just so amazing. It really does show off the two character Katniss and Lucy being on the same coin different sides.

In my opinion this has to be Olivia’s best song writing, I love the detail, and vision she prevails. Olivia you are a lyricist. Well done, I’m glad they chose you to do the song for the hunger games for this movie. You are one step away from being an Oscar winner.❤

“Higher than the hopes that you brought down” is iconic 😍

“You’ll see my face in every place” that line is so good. She explains how even though she may be gone, the impact she has will always be there.

Her voice is like liquid gold. It’s mesmerizing, elegant, but it’s scalding and ready to burn everything it touches, ready to bind everything to it. It’s vengeful and of utmost beauty, like a spell cast from another realm.

A musical reminder that Lucy Gray was a constant reminder in anything, anywhere, everywhere, everything to Coryo. He couldn’t escape her no matter what he did .

This song LITERALLY explained the end of the movie and how Lucy Gray escaped and how her fate is a mystery and her relationship with snow in the end. Like the lyric “I’m higher than the hopes that you brought down” shows so much about snow. There is a reason they played this with credits, it’s because everyone was questioning if snow got her and it’s literally telling us he didn’t. Incredible song, ties so perfectly with the file, IM OBSESSED!!

I love how these lyrics fit the narrative of Lucy Gray haunting Snow forever, she's everywhere he looks including in Katniss. I usually don't listen to Olivia Rodrigo's music, but this song resonates so perfectly with the Hunger Games. I love it!

This brings me chills. Makes me want to curl up and cry as if I felt every emotion from Snow and Lucy.
  • she captured the feeling of the movie ending so well, I'm speechless

Honestly one of my favourite songs by her. She really suits this type of music
  • @ganjazz
I love how this song is angry yet gentle.
  • @itsnlee
My favourite part of the song is the delivery of "but I'm in the trees, I'm in the breeze". I still get chills all over but can't explain the feeling. It's music and stories like this that makes me feel glad to be alive to experience them.

I was not an Olivia Rodrigo fan until now, but I have to admit this song is perfect for the movie. Her voice, the lyrics, the music, all impeccable.

"Sometimes the fire you founded don't burn the way you'd expect." I just love this line. The lyrics are brilliant.
