Rae: Colors that no longer exist Me: Laughs in digital art

Petition for Rae to make a painting with all the rare colors she’s reviewed
-
I always love the little history lessons and cool stories we get with your videos 🤩
-
Fun Fact: The phrase “mad as a hatter” is derived from the fact that hat makers were constantly exposed to large amounts of mercury for the creation of hats back in the day. Chronic mercury toxicity can cause serious mental illness in sufferers, thus the phrase “mad as a hatter” (and of course, the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland) was born.

Dangerous substance: exists Ancient artists: It's pretty. We shall turn it into paint.
-
Me: clicks video “ahhhh yes I break from history class!” Rae: starts explaining the history of toxic paint
-
I love how we seek out historical colours, but artists hundreds of years ago would probably have killed to get colours as vibrant as the synthetic paints we have today
-
I think "depth" is the most accurate word to describe how different these colors are. Absolutely beautiful, its a pleasure to get lost in them.
-
In russian ivory black is basically called "burnt bone", if we get the direct translation...
-
Historical paints really be like: "this red was made with the blood of this long lost king's first born son."
-
8:50 these colours are so calming.. I cannot imagine that they surely look even better in reality
-
Rae: colors that no longer exist— Digital artist: Eyedropper tool go brrrr

The fact that i understand Rae better than my history teacher
-
“To be fair it’s mostly arsenic” That could make sense in any statement about the 17th century!
-
I couldn’t blame you for thinking the pencil was a pain brush, it looks exactly like one.
-
Risk your life for shading your drawing? Old artists: Heck yeah man!
-
as a chemist who studied cave paintings and the connection between archeological art and chemistry.... i greatly appreciated this video
-
Rae: “Maybe you’ve killed someone with arsenic” No need to call us out but ok-
-
8:48 The normal synthetic manganese blue hue (bottom) looks perfect for painting a sunny sky, maybe with little clouds.

When Rae's video is more educational than your history class and your art class combined
