My 17 year old godson who was born with Autism, also has underdeveloped optic nerves and he got to try these...he cried when he saw everything clearly for the first time, and it broke my heart to hear about it. His mom just started a fundraiser today to try to come up with the money to get him a pair.

this is amazing!! i know it's not the same but my 2 year old nephew went completely deaf in both his ears and due to cochear implants he could hear again. i'm glad these kinds of helping devices are also there for blind people

I wish there was a version of this that would work with only one eye that is failing. I would incorporate my usual prescription lenses for my good eye, then use The technology to improve the vision in my right eye. Get the personal connection with the cyborg feel ✌️😎

Just imagine when we can have augmented eyeballs with these features. I’m ready to be prejudiced against for being an Aug like in Deus Ex Mankind Divided

Good to know the technology is progressing. However, the price of the device is outrageous. In Europe, eSight 4 costs almost 8000 EUR. Many of my handicapped friends would benefit from eSight, but they could never afford it, living on their social benefits 200 EUR / month, which is barely enough to pay their rent and have some cheap food. I myself am a visually impaired programmer, also doing some electronics repair work using magnifying glasses and a large computer screen. I earn enough to afford eSight, but I would be scared to use it knowing that a small accident could damage an 8000 EUR device. Poking around with a hot soldering iron can turn out to be so much more expensive than the device I'm repairing. Reading eSight specs, I don't quite see why their device should cost more than a high-quality VR headset, which usually costs around 1000 EUR (including also game controllers and many built-in cameras and higher resolution screen and FOV than eSight offers). Knowing that their target market are people with low income, I think these devices should be subsidized by the manufacturer themselves, balancing their other, more mainstream product prices to avoid losses.
  • Hi there. Does anyone know if this piece of technology can be used to help someone enjoy playing video games? Not just fortnight but all video games? Also can you walk with this wearable on what do you have to be in one spot, put it on, look at what you are looking for, and then take it off?
  • @senschey1412
