  • As long as you are dressed, just be happy and comfy. There are millions of people in London, noone will remember if you choose to wear comfy clothes and shoes to walk around all day.

I am Chinese. Everyone can tell I'm a tourist in London. Good thing is I don't need to care so much about pretending to be a local.

Sneakers are vital for me when walking around London. I've paid the price for improper footwear while walking in London. I had to sit on a park bench in Hyde Park because my feet were killing me. So I don't care what anyone thinks of my walking / running shoes.
  • We just spent 10 days in London after watching many of your videos. We didn't pack any tennis shoes and regretted that decision. We walked between 5 and 12 miles every day and saw many people wearing tennis shoes and so wish we had done so. We were so blessed...10 days without a drop of rain...I even came home with a sunburn and peeling face! Fabulous trip!

If you are coming to London you will do a lot of walking. It is the best and quickest way to see an area. Wear comfortable shoes and bring two pairs so you can swap. Break them in before you come, blisters will take the edge off your day. Be prepared for rain, having said that in the summer it should be warm and umbrellas are sold everywhere when it looks like rain. The look in the UK is often described as ' smart casual', but we are broad minded her and embrace eccentricity so go for it!

Hi! I recently visited london for 2 weeks in August and fell in love with that city! I watched your videos before going and cannot tell you how helpful your videos are. I rarely had trouble getting around since I knew so much from your videos beforehand! thanks for the awesome content :)

Hi!!! I subscribed to your channel when I came to London 2 months ago - I was on a summer study abroad programme - and your videos have been SO helpful and life-saving. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences!!! Tomorrow I'm flying back to Manila with so many great memories and unique London adventures. Thanks for being a part of that! Keep being awesome!!!! ❤ Love from the Philippines!

Londoners do wear sneakers/trainers, but we’re a bit more fussy about the style. I’ve noticed that Americans of all ages tend to wear the sort of running shoe that you would actually use in athletics or training as casual wear. And sometimes these are ugly shoes! Brits tend to wear certain stylish sneakers, vintage Adidas, Converse, Reebok classics (the white ones kept virgin white.) Nike hightops, Vans, etc.

so I won't be wearing my T-shirt that says "FBI-Female Body Inspector" then
  • @kimberlyregina
Sounds like New York fashion. We NEVER wear pajamas outside and our clothes are mostly fitted :) this probably happens somewhere in middle America and most places for nightlife in NYC do not let in with sneakers 👟 anyways...
  • I was in London in March. And coming from Singapore (being a hot country) the "sudden" freeze was quite new to me. So my advice is to wear something warm because even though the weather may look all sunny, in actuality, the temperature can go really low.

Very helpful video. Your London 101 guide is fantastic - thanks!

Covenrse shoes are the worse to walk around in, they are some of the most uncomfortable shoes.

I'm in London and the moment, and I am seeing EVERYWHERE Nike/Adidas trainers worn with jeans. Male and females. A lot of them English. Back in Australia, this combo would get laughed at. Same with in the winter, I noticed the English LOVE to wear ugg boots over jeans/leggings. Back in Australia, you wouldn't really do that either 😄 Great video as usual Jess !

Like your channel! Other things: (1) Even young children in Europe wear clothing that's logo-free, quality, covered up separates. (2) I found "local" women throughout Europe wear dresses & skirts daily, much more than U.S. (3) tailoring - people get their clothing tailored frequently in London & EU so that's why clothing looks fitted & good on their bodies, and (4) weight: if I see someone overweight in London or EU, they will almost always be American. Overweight/obese=American. I realize that's not ALL Americans, but most of them, most certainly.

This first time I went to London I wore these lovely converse style shoes with a London pattern, (red buses, telephone boxes, Elizabeth towers, etc, they had a rainproof coating, I thought these are perfect! they were not perfect, they were so flat and thin, so cushioning or support and the seems came away were my foot bent. A lesson learned. Test your shoes, make sure they are comfortable.
