Cheap for Americans, maybe, but I’m sure for Calabrians it’s reasonable. It’s also out of the way, no real big markets around, not near a train station etc. (I always wonder how locals feel when foreigners grab up properties at inflated prices which makes everything go up. Not just in Italy; I’ve seen it in places like Ajijic, Mexico and Antigua, Guatemala. I’m sure there’s some resentment.) It’s a lovely property though.

Unreal that there is no title insurance there. So used to California, where you open an escrow, they do a title search, and clear, insured title is issued at the end. 🙂 Thinking it would be an amazing business to to start in Italy.

wow that is some great info. Thanks for sharing. In aquipiso or bonafide please look at pronunciation instead of the spelling. Do you have info on houses there also. Thanks much!

Also, employment, train links, infrastructure and the sea, and commercial investment near by, very important as this means money and investment and security.
  • So if I understand this correctly, if the squatter has lived in the property for over 10 years, let’s say 15 years they have the right to sell it and the original owner can’t really come back and claim it from you the buyer?

One very important factor okay, this lady isn't telling you. Italian go for costal towns, but not rule by thumb, I.e. circumstances. But Italians know, and foriegn buyers know that if you go for example from a coastal town, even 15 or 20km inland, some areas have a problem with theft, and criminal activity. This is not always the case, but from my experiences with an italian guide and driver, we witnessed this first hand, so for buyers I would say, find desirable and quite coastal towns. This is an important factor indeed. As I say not always rule of thumb but mainly the case.
