I feel like Mccain was genuinely like "what the fuck is wrong with you people?"
  • @Duecemoney1
McCain-Obama was the last era of civilized politics. And I miss it terribly.
  • @keeleybee18
I love that McCain literally took the mic away from that old lady 😂
  • I may be a democrat, but I still think John McCain was one of the bravest of us and the most sincere politician in office. What a simply decent man.

This is how America is supposed to be, a peaceful transfer of power. Our enemies hate that. We need to bring civility back.

If you haven't watched Obama's eulogy to John McCain (who had asked him to speak at his funeral), it is worth watching. It is so touching.

“He’s a decent family man citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues, and that’s what this campaign is all about.” As it should always be. Although I might’ve disagreed with John, he seemed to be a great man who I would’ve been honored to meet and shake his hand.
  • 0:29 McCain threw away his election because he defended his opponent from his own ignorant supporters. Much respect to that man.
  • @wintersakiller
Bill Clinton playing a blues Saxophone is genuinely one of the coolest things I have ever seen from a politician
  • I choose to firmly believe that we as a nation will return to this level of conduct as the norm for political conventions one day. I firmly believe that such a day will come!
  • Thank you so much for posting this. It reminds us that in the midst of our divisive political climate there is, in fact, decency, respect, and maturity.

You’re really underselling that pitch by W. It wasn’t just “a baseball game.” It was the game 1 of the 2001 World Series, which was IN New York, barely a month after 9/11. W was wearing a bulletproof vest under his jacket. One of the umpires on the field was actually a secret service agent. He knew he had to nail that pitch or they’d boo him. So he practiced it beforehand and he threw an absolutely beautiful pitch. So much symbolism and meaning behind that moment. And I wouldn’t have ever voted for the guy.

you know this how we should behave; I am a Muslim living and working in NYC and my boss is Jewish and every Friday we have dinner together, with his family, yes, we have disagreements sometimes, but we always respect each other.
  • This is a great idea - I like the idea of humour and wholesomeness fighting back against the division and incessant negativity. Thanks for this.

They skipped the best line from Obama's eulogy to McCain (right around 1:50). He said something like "And I know he's enjoying watching now his two biggest opponents for the presidency saying nice things about him to a national audience"

Wholesome moments like this are extremely rare not only in American politics, but in world politics in general.
