Unfortunately, the ideal monitor for a MacBook does not currently exist. The Apple Studio Display would be an ideal monitor, but 60Hz ruins everything if you want to use it with a MacBook, which has 120Hz. This is a huge difference in refresh rate. And this is very noticeable when scrolling and cursor movement.

Hi I just came across your videos and i found it very useful. I am by no means a tech person nowadays. However I have gone back into DJing and it’s all digital now. The problem I am having is that the Mac monitor is so small to contain all the info. I tried it on a tv panel and once I scaled up the graphics it froze. Is this common? Is there a monitor that won’t load up the processor and crash it all while upping the graphics quality? Thanks in advance. 😉

I’m looking at a 27’ or 32’ display for my mac studio thats on order. I do some video editing for youtube videos etc… Im nervous about the scaling issues many have spoken about. Like in one resolution the the text is too small and the next one up its too big and then you lose all the screen real estate. Can anyone advise a solid choice thats not the high end of the price spectrum? Also the hz? I’ve been advised to go at least 120hz… I’m coming from a 27inch 5k imac… thanks.
  • Hey Craig appreciate all the info. Need your help…. I have a Mac Pro 2018 15” which is running just fine but eventually will upgrade to newer one. Anyway having trouble on final decision for monitor: dell ultrasharp 4K 32” or 34” or Alienware oled 34” I usually run like my training app on one side and another maybe google or another website. Sometimes throw a movie on and haven’t even touched gaming. But gaming isn’t out of the question but just not priority. Want good color pop and quality and just smooth screen coexistence. Thanks for your help. I’ll throw Samsung g8 in mix too if you think its legit
  • @marshalzski
do you have an update on how to get the 27" 5K imac to work as a second monitor for a macbook pro?
  • @asan1050
Great run down Craig! Thank you for posting.

I’m a prosumer photographer. I have been luck enough to sell enough to pay for my hobby What would you recommend for photography, colour accuracy is paramount? 27” or larger. TIA
  • @bobmetzger51
Good video. We just purchased a 27” 4K LG Monitor and really enjoy it. Amazing resolution and brilliance.
  • Hey can you tell about LG 27UQ850 It is updated new version of lg27up850 it has nano ips panel 2000:1 contrast and dci p3 of 98% percent at cost of 550 dollar
  • @michaelsciam
I have just bought a Mac Studio Display and after a couple of weeks I started noticing a 1/2 inch yellowish glare line running all along the four edges of the monitor. I have returned the machine which here in Europe costs even more than in the US. I still cannot believe this.
  • @theBarracuda_
what about 120hz+, quad HD, 27inch with IPS panel for mac?
  • @bryans8656
I have the ASUS ProArt pA278QV, and it's a very good 2K monitor. Excellent image quality and well built.
  • Thanks for the great effort Why is NEC never mentioned By the mass of the influence People?

The Philips monitor I purchased was a PHILIPS Creator Series 27E2F7901 27" 4K UHD IPS. The Quickstart instructions that came with it said not to lower the screen any further than 5° down or it may fall off I guess they don’t have too much confidence in this product themselves. Much happier with the ASUS PA278CV that cost only $249 and works great with much better color and not all washed out 1440 resolution 2K display is perfect for the MacBook. As Mr. Ronco used to say on his television commercial set it and forget it. 🖥️👀

Very informative video, I for one is looking forward to your review of the BenQ PD3225U, I have been a fan of ViewSonic for a long time but it's time to move on & the BenQ is on the top of my list. Thanks for the tidbits on the monitors Craig.
  • @Absorbing146
Thanks for this video. I'll be thinking about a Mac mini and monitor if apple does not come out with a 27" in 2025.
  • @jjmag3107
