I can't listen to Jim Croce without tearing up. I was born in 1971, my brother was class of 77. I remember sitting on my brothers old yellow Pontiac Grand Prix tank. He had wires running everywhere to speakers from his 8 track. Stacks of 8 tracks everywhere but he always had Jim playing. My brother passed away in 2003 and one of my favorite memories is of my brother and Jim. I play this song and shut my eyes and I am in that seat again next to him.

Jim died in a plane crash, 1973..30 years old...Had a bunch of hit songs at the height of his career....Tragic...He was very talented..."Time in a bottle" is another good one by JC.

"Time in a Bottle"...please. Jim Croce...pronounced kro-chee. God rest his beautiful soul. Like Karen Carpenter, he was taken way too soon. Thank you for your reactions to these wonderful songs.

When Jim found out his wife was expecting, he literally sat down at their kitchen table and wrote over half of his #1 hit songs in a single week. He never lived to see his star rise completely, and sadly after his death, the record companies screwed his widow out of the royalty's she had coming.

Jim paid his dues and was climbing to the top when he was tragically killed in a plane crash at 30yrs old before he could see the success he worked so hard to achieve . Great songwriter.

Jim Croce gave us some of the sweetest music of the 70s, that still hits a heartstring today ❤️
  • This song still makes me tear up sometimes and I've heard it 100 times. He was such a great singer/songwriter.

I also would really love to hear your reaction to Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce. It is a song that makes me sad each time I hear it, because Jim didn't have much time after recording this song.
  • @shaun374
Please more Jim Croce. "I'll have to say I love you in a song" would be a good one to do next.
  • @alanfriesen9837
My personal favorite Croce song is "I Have to Say I Love You In a Song"

Wore out my father's 8 track of this album. I got a name, bad bad Leroy Brown, time in a bottle, don't mess around with Jim. Tragic. R.I.P. Jim 🤘

Such a terrible loss to the music world when Jim Croce and Harry Chapin died. They were both outstanding story tellers.
  • @TheLemzia
The most memorable lyric to me is "Thank you for your time, ah, you've been so much more than kind And you can keep the dime" due to the fact that Every Gas station and almost every street corner in America had a Payphone and it only cost a Single dime. I bet most kids these days would be Stumped at what they were LOL!

Jim's song "Photographs and Memories" is a tear jerker, especially in light of his tragic death and thinking about the wife and 2 year old son he left behind.
  • @peterblood50
Jim was an American treasure and you did a great reaction to the song. His songs always spoke to the 'real life' experiences of people. "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" , "Working at the Car Wash Blues", "Time in a Bottle".
  • @bigjay123
'Leroy Brown' & 'Dont mess around with Jim'

"Let's forget about this call. There's nobody there I really want to talk to." The saddest words in the song, after his bottled up emotions started busting out with "there's something in my eyes" that made it impossible to read the number he just wrote down.
