You should check out RE Howard's essay he wrote called The Hyborian Age- a solid read for history
  • @Primo_Luca
Your Conan content is simply amazing, it's reliable and so well made. It's always nice to see Howard's work getting the attention it deserves, nice work my friend

Man, I wish Robert Howard at least lived to the 80s and saw the renaissance of his wonderful ideas.
  • Hearing the Aesir being necromantic sorcerers puts the Norse Pantheon as a death cult into new perspective.

My understanding is that REH was drawing from History, Theosophy, and general knowledge about the science studies of his day. His races as well as his places seem to be a hybrid mix of fact and his powerful imagination.
  • I like to imagine the Hyperboreans and their aesthetic as the ancient Nords from Skyrim but before they all became dragon priest liches and draugr
  • Just as a side note regarding ancient architecture but its worth saying that the Romans did arguably begin to get more into a higher urban skyline, insulae where essentially roman blocks of flats with businesses on the ground floor, the tallest could reach nine or so stories although six or seven was more common. They could also be absolute hell holes to live in. These were primarily found in the most dense urban centres, rome itself, Alexandria etc.
  • I didn't realize Howard grew up in cross plains I live about half an hour away, it's a tiny town

A visually accurate hyborian age essay(s) were done by Walter Simonson in "Savage Sword of Conan"(?); It's the closest depiction to/of Frank Frazetta while still being original that I've ever seen.

I am a roleplayer and Lore Lover through and through. My dad got me into Exiles. Before that, I always knew about the movies with Arnold and knew the name Conan but I had no clue just how rich in history the lore was! As a history enjoyer myself, seeing Howard use his universe as such a massive Love Letter to history is so interesting! My Pictish witch is now one of my new favorite characters. Thanks for these two videos!

the Blackfoot culture is way up north, Montana etc. Im Texas also, at one time, 1913 era, Howards family lived here in east Texas, in Red River County near Clarksville, TX, the Howard family were from south western Arkansas and very old south in nature, Many of his short stories set in the modern era of his time shows this well, the character El Borak is much to my liking and I enjoy those stories.

I’ve waited years for a channel like this and it seems to come from a talented, intelligent source thanks man
  • I watched my small Texas town become an oil boom town just like Howard did. I feel his pain
  • Wtf.. There is a Turan in Conan!!? They worship Erlik? That's so cool. Erlik is the ruler of the underworld in Turkic mythology. Tengri is the God of the Turks.
  • I'm so glad to see this rise of a Conan channel (though your other content is also nice). It's one of my most favorite fantasy settings, right next to Warhammer Fantasy.
  • @archabe
Just started playing Exiles and found my way here. Love the lore stuff and to be more immersed even tho I only play single player. Your voice is like a storyteller version of the trailer guy... Amazing.
  • @baddragonite
What's funny is I was actively playing GW2 when I found your channel and didn't even know you did guild wars 2 content. I'll have to check it out 😁
