That is a superb example of a Rover 100, I suspect they may soon rise in value as a modern classic. Such a sensible British little motor!

By the mid-1990's the Rover 100 was not meeting the Euro crash standards or future standards. By 1996, they only had a 1 star rating, something very unacceptable even then. I am from the USA and in 1996 had one of the same body style as this one in the video as a rental out of London. I drove it in a number of areas of England, including in the Yorkshire region, on the M1 to single track roads. To me its ride, handling, was superior to a Opel Corsa 3 door hatchback I drove in Ireland the previous year. This might do well as a simple, nostalga car.

It's great to see an old Rover on the channel! Can't believe the condition it's in, too 😀

Can see both rear quarters repainted - slightly off colour
  • they lower themselves if they leak, but they are easy to lower as they dont require aftermarket parts, so will hardly be classed as boy racer. i used to have a 1.1 rover metro, the person i got it off turned it in to a gti rep. was my first car 19 years ago and was great and a lot of fun for the first 6 months when the head gasket went plus wasnt the best of examples at the time i found out. miss having one although if i got one nowadays it would be an actual gti or least the gta.
  • I have always loved the Metro as my nan had one as a kid and I grew up with it. Love the 100 despite it’s tart up over the years. Nightfire Red is arguably the nicest colour too for these! The service history is awesome, especially with the cambelt. Definitely owned by an elderly person! What a fab little car

That blow torch tip worked really well. It's an honest old thing and should find a buyer easily. Should turn a tidy profit for you. The hydragas is easy to pump up with the right tools, glad you saved it.
  • I was fortunate enough for my parents to buy me a red 3dr 111i as an 19th birthday present in 1995. Never did a Rover 100 come into my mind beforehand but I grew to absolutely adore that little car & did 40000 miles in it in 3 years all over the country. It even came with a years free insurance, £14 filled the tank, it was totally reliable, handled brilliantly & the 1.1 K series was peppy & smooth. Good memories! & I did have chuckle at the 8 track comment 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣
  • I smile as you grimace about having no power streering! all cars apart from some of the more prestigious models did not have power steering, In fact I think it was not until the mid 90's when lesser cars began to have it fitted as standard. It was just something you got used to like 'keep fit' manual windows!
  • Nightfire Red! This one's in immaculate condition for its age.

Matching front and rear dealer plates safe to say it’s never been crashed

Love a Westcountry car, especially Exeter and the surrounding areas, they’ll be lots of these moored up on the elderly residents driveways who bought them in the 90’s and it became their last car….
  • I love these too. Usually dissolve in front of your eyes so surprised to see one in good nick. Love that red too. I had a metallic blue one.
  • My Dad had the Metro badged 1.4 GTa when I was a little kid he loved it he would still have it now if not for rust.
  • They were better than the mini back in the day. Drove a brand new 1989 pizza van for 8 hours a week, happy days.
  • @EA-58
for some reason i love those little cars.
  • @nathanstevful
Great little motors, the only thing that killed these off was euro crash testing, I think it scored a 2 star, would have this over the hideous Rover City Rover that replaced it.
  • @barryrathbone
Nearly the last of them. Nightfire red was the best colour. I had so many as a driving school cars. Main issue was the rusty wheel arches. It’s a cassette holder!
