You can feel it in the streets
On a day like this, the heat

You can feel it in the streets
On a day like this, the heat
I feel like summer
She feel like summer
This feel like summer
I feel like summer

I like how Childish Gambino persona in this song is like a spectator...a detached outsider looking in at the hiphop culture

in 20 years, this will be a perfect time capsule for the 10s era of hip hop

There is something about Whitney having her eyes closed (being forgotten) and Michael with his open and laughing (living like a legend forever) that hits hard.

I’m convinced that he is absolutely chosen

Donald Glover as Childish Gambino walking down the hood of Hip-Hop and entertainment, but everytime he closes his eyes you see more R&B/Soul artists as well as people who are depressed or represents artists who've passed away yet left a mark.

When this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and then jail. I now have a house, job, and husband. This song and “Clover Cage - In the Moment” are the two songs that helped get rid of my depression. I just want to send love to everyone and I want everyone to know things will get better. We are in this together..I love you ❀
  • I don’t know why, but this song and animation gets me so emotional. Even before I looked up who each character was, there was so much personality in the styles of all people shown. The way they show certain people too is just so beautiful.

Whoever was in charge of the visuals, well done.
  • How can one song capture both the slow sizzling chill of the summer, and a certain existential sadness of the present world, all at the same time?

This was my song when I was starting out in college. Still listen to this song every now and then to try and feel that youth. The only issue is that it went from a comfort, easy feeling song, to a song of pure nostalgia. Seeing all the artists, present and late, makes me just feel older. All that aside, this song still brings me back to when I was 18-19, living on my own, and it gives me a sense of youth and temporary comfort. Back then it was so different, yet so easy. That’s the real world. A lot of artists that I grew up to have sadly passed. Love the song, been listening since the “Heartbeat” Camp album.

While every other rapper is fooling around, Gambino just tries to ignore them and continues his path.

Sat outside of a library in LA on a summer day listening to this and soaking in the moment knowing time is going to pass by. Appreciate that moment and here we are 5 years later. That was fast
